ACF / CCF Signals group is created to record the past interests and achievements of Cadet force signalling primarily in the Combined Cadet Force (CCF) and formerly in the Officer Training Corps (OTC) and later, more generally, in the Army Cadcet Force (ACF).

This archive includes The Natonal Radio HF Network operated for many years linking schools and colleges with a CCF Signals Section and in which some ACF's were also involved, principally those who were resident in schools and thus able to operate on a regular, daily, basis.

The Army initially issued WS12(TX) and an R107 receivers for the use of all qualified Cadets, who did not have to have an Amateur Radio Licence to operate, but only on specific Military controlled frequencies, mainly in or close to 5 Megs. WS 19 and WS 62 were also subsequently issued as these sets went out of service with the Regular and TA forces.  As the Larkspur range of radios became surplus to Military requirements the C12, C13 and a few C11's were issued, finally these sets were replace in 1980 by the Clansman PRC320 radio.  Low power Platoon radios, the WS38/WS18 were also issued.

In addition to the HF Radio network VHF sets were issued for local training WS88/WS31 and PRC349.  Though designed for local use some remarkable ranges were achieved - Ben Nevis to Snowdon, for instance!
