Thanks for your comments. I guess you only listen for HF signals as that's all the MFJ and the W6LVP loop amps are good for. Both have high input impedance which are very poor matches to a loop at MW

The amp died in my three year-old 1886 (not the TR) due to a very common issue with these models; water ingress. Over time, the elements (sun, mostly) will cause the rubber gasket on the amp assembly
