Re: 1.5-volt active loop antenna?
Greetings, I was again pondering some possible low-voltage RF amplifier designs and I stumbled upon a possible idea for a low-voltage (1.2 volts) wideband (untuned) active loop antenna amplifier. I'm

Re: magnetic loop current
That is found by trial and error. I use a toroid for coupling and get a perfect 1:1 with 5 turns on two stacked FT-240-61 cores on a 5 1/2 foot diameter loop. I use 1 inch hardline for the loop

Re: magnetic loop current
There are some details on the web somewhere but mine used a type 64 toriodial ring (I think) nested in a slot on top of a plastic plumbing pipe mast with the loop through it and had two tight turns of

I agree with the other poster, just a basic magnetic loop, simple to build, I used the easy toroidial ring feed for mine as I work mainly qrp which also means the tunning capacitor vanes do not have

If you could swap the size of the actual loop and use the SAME capacitor would this be possible. In other words if you were to build a loop better suited for say 14 mhz - 228/29 mhz and a separate

magnetic loop current
I was given all components of a 8' loop, 0.75" copper tube with huge butterfly capacitor. I plan to use a ferrite core as coupling. How many turns to match to 50 ohms?

I suggest that before going to far, you Google Magnetic Loop Antennas -- there are lots of examples and you should have a good idea of the many ways others have built them -- and you can take the best

Hi Lane, I have used one of these extensively on 10 meters. I love that antenna. You can see a picture of it on my QRZ webpage. (KR7K) I have modeled these extensively and they will work in either

A good person to ask about this would be Iian M1OOO at the Sidmouth Observatory, he spends most his life tracking solar noise and once had myself and a few others chasing up and down the bands
