Re: Alex Loop
Hi Guys,? Too bad that Gigaparts mistyped and uses now a Dutch (prefix) callsign as typenumber. This could give quite some confusion in the future. 73?Rob?PE9PE? Stephen Ponder

Yes,pricey. Also, very well constructed, easily portable in it's carrying case, and very effective.I have worked lots of dx with it,including DXpeditions on Swains Is,Niue Is,and into Tasmania on

Hi Bob, There is an article in the November issue of ARRL's QST magazine about the Walkham version of the Alex Loop.? The reviewer gave it pretty good marks.? Said it's available from GigaParts and

Re: 1.5-volt active loop antenna?
I just deleted that earlier PDF file and replaced it with "Active Antenna Amplifiers for Low Voltage Operation.pdf" that has the low input impedance amplifier on the second page. This is still a work

Re: 1.5-volt active loop antenna?
Thank you! What kind of gain do you expect with this amp? And can it be used with a higher supply voltage? Jim

Re: 1.5-volt active loop antenna?
Let me work on that. I finished off the schematic for the low input impedance amplifier, so I'll incorporate that as well. It will use the HFA3046 NPN transistor array, which is a good device for

I would sure like to see values for the components of this circuit,,maybe for about 400khz at the low end up through at least 4 Mhz . Thanks! Jim ---In loopantennas@..., <qrp.gaijin@...>

Re: 1.5-volt active loop antenna?
The purpose of the inductance is to retain the differential nature of the amplifier. At low frequencies, the amplifier will become a pair of common-emitter amplifiers. The differential amplifier

Re: saturn 6m halo loop
Fond memories of the Saturn 6 here. It was the "go to" 6 meter mobile antenna in the midwest back around 1961 when I was first licensed. Proudly had one on the back bumper of my 1950 Chevy coupe. Rig

Jim, I ran mine with a Heathkit Lunch box 6 Meter AM. as i recall. everyone had one and there was a lot of activity in our area. Of course that was 6 years eariler.. I really treasure those days...

Re: 1.5-volt active loop antenna?
You don't want to run low-voltage amplifiers at high currents as the saturation voltage rises with current, and you soon find yourself with a limited dynamic range. Take a look at the curve family

Thank you Chris. Your mobius strip shielded loop design is very extensive! I have aquired a 32' run of 1" diameter semi-rigid 50 ohm coaxial cable. Do you think it would be suitable shielded design? I

I ran one of these mobile in 1968 using a Lafayette HA-460 a.m. transceiver. Worked fine whenever I could find someone on 6 meters. There wasn't to much SSB or FM in my part of the country then. Great
