Hi all,
Using an M1 Mac Studio.
I fired up fldigi 4.2.05 (VN) earlier today and when it opens, I get the popup saying fldigi would like to access the microphone but it’s stuck in a loop. I click Allow and it just comes straight back. Checking in Privacy & Security / Microphone, fldigi does have access. I’ve tried disabling it and re-enabling but it still just loops.
I can still access the fldigi menus behind the message and close fldigi. The correct audio devices are listed and selected.
Downloading the LI version, it works OK, I still get the message but only once, it doesn’t loop.
Mac Studio M1 Ultra macOS Sonoma 14.6.1 Kenwood TS-890, single USB cable between them
I would much rather use the Universal build than the Intel build on Apple Silicon.
Has anyone else experienced this?

Keith, I’m not at my Mac right now but I believe there was a workaround by running the app from another location instead of the applications folder. I think it worked ok in my home folder ( ~/ ). 73, Dan -AI2M

Hi Dan,
Sadly not - I’ve just tried running it from my home folder, from my pictures folder, from my music folder and about half a dozen other locations, all with the same problem.

Hi Keith,
I just remembered there was a little more to it. I have the actual fldigi executable file that I copied from the app bundle in my home folder. See this message for some related information: (/g/linuxham/message/52700)

Keith, I think this thread gives a workaround:
I created an automator fldigi.app to invoke /Applications/fldigi-4.2.05.app/Contents/MacOS/fldigi:
?

Thanks Peter,
I just drilled into the .app itself, found the executable and made an alias. ?Running that opens a terminal window and then fldigi so I think I’m sorted.
Obviously I have no idea behind the programming but I wonder if this is likely to get resolved. ?Hope so :-)

Question: ?Has this issue been resolved in 4.2.06?
|
|
Thanks, Dave. ?I'll stay with 4.2.05 until a resolution has been found.

I just wanted to reply that I have the same loop on my Mac Mini M2 running Sonoma 14.6. Going back to FLDigi 4.2.05 didn't help. But, I'm glad to say, installing the Lion version (fldigi-4.2.06-LI) did work.

I had considered trying the LI version but didn’t until you posted your message. I am glad to say it worked on my M2 Max running macOS 14.6.1. I won’t upgrade to macOS for at least a week but probably mid-December and, if I remember, will post here my results.
Regards,

Here on Mac mini M1 running Sequoia 15.1 with Fldigi 4.2.06-LI - mic loop no longer an issue.
?

Rick,
Did you have any issues running Fldigi with MacOS Sequoia 15.1?

Yes, as I recall. Only moving to the Fldigi 4.2.06-LI resolved it.?
But I could be wrong on that.?

What is the difference between LI and VN versions?

Just open your terminal and paste in the following code (change the specific version to your own, of course):
codesign --force --deep --sign - /Applications/fldigi-4.2.05.app
Be careful to keep all the dashes, even the single one after "sign".
Terminal will prompt for your password, then reply with "/Applications/fldigi-4.2.05.app: replacing existing signature"
