I'm desperately trying to ditch Windows and right now the only thing keeping me there is I am still not able to start Flrig and FLDigi on my M1 Mac Mini (Sonoma 14..4.1, FTDX10, Signalink). ?
On Flrig, once I set the Rig, Update, and Baud fields correctly then click Init I get a never-ending beachball and have to force quit.
On FLDigi I still can't get past the "would like to access the microphone" pop-up, no matter how many times I click Allow.
JS8Call is working like a dream and if I move the cables to a Windows laptop FLDigi works great there.
Any thoughts?? Please forgive me if the solution has been posted and I missed it.
Thanks,

Hi, Dave.? I tried running the commands from Terminal as shown in the link you provided but at the last step, when I tried to execute fldigi, I got this return:

Gary,
For fldigi, please try this
Open Finder to /Applications
Right click on the fldigi icon and select "Open Contents"
Double click "Contents"
Double click "MacOS"
Double click on the fldigi icon.
Does fldigi open without the microphone sob story?
For flrig,? Send me this file $HOME/.flrig/FTDX10.prefs

I just sent another way to
start fldigi, and it also required the "YES" response.? On
subsequent starts using the same technique, the YES prompt
appeared and after a second or two fldigi started normal
execution.? For this to work and not have the microphone nag,
you need to enable Terminal access to the microphone.? Do this
on System Settings / Privacy & Security / Microphone.

Hi, Dave.
?
It looks like we’re almost there.? Using the steps below fldigi opens and that “use the microphone” question is no longer popping up.? I’m even able to decode signals.? Yea! I do have a terminal window open,
though, and it just sits there doing nothing until I close fldigi, at which time it says:
?
Saving session...
...copying shared history...
...saving history...truncating history files...
...completed.
?
[Process completed]
?
Unfortunately, for some reason the waterfall is blank so I have to rely on the Channels frame to see where the signals are.
?
There is no $HOME/.flrig/FTDX10.prefs file, probably because I never get to the point where I can save the configuration.? If it helps, here are the contents of my flrig.prefs file:
?
; FLTK preferences file format 1.0
; vendor: w1hkj.com
; application: flrig
?
[.]
?
xcvr_name:NONE
?
My apologies for all of the trouble but your help is greatly appreciated.

Regarding flrig on Ventura
14.4.1.? Tested using my Macbook Air with USB interface cable to
FT-710.? The FT-710 and FTdx10 use similar USB port h/w.
- install the CP210 driver
found at
- reboot the computer
after successful installation
- plug in FT-xxx cable if
not already attached
- execute flrig and before
attempting to configure for the Yaesu transceiver
- open System Settings
application
- go to Privacy &
Security / Blue tooth
- allow flrig to use
Bluetooth.? do not know why this worked but it did
- check the transceiver
USB serial baud rate,?? I use 115200 for my FT-710.
- open the flrig
Configuration dialog? to Xcvr
- select the transceiver
- select the /dev/cu.SLAB_USBtoUART device.? The
/dev/tty.SLAB_USBtoUART was not accessible.? On Ventura the
"tty" devices are opend in lock mode and it appears that
either another application (or the flrig serial port discovery
code) did not completely close that access port.
- set the baud to be the
same as the Xcvr
- set 1 stop bit
- set RTS/CTS
- set Poll Intvl to 100
- press the Init button
- shut down flrig and
restart ... SUCCESS
- enable "Rig auto On" and
"Rig auto OFF" on the drop down extras tabs, Misc.
- shut down flrig.?
transceiver should turn OFF.
- start flrig.?
transceiver will be discovered and turned ON

Hi, Dave. Thanks, once again.? Bingo!? Everything is working now once I swapped out the RS-232 interface cable I had been using (first rig had only this typoe port for control and the PC had a real D25 serial port) but following your detailed instructions I removed that and now have a USB-A - USB-B cable between the radio and the Mac.? I even changed JS8Call and WSJT-X to use the flrig.rig as the "radio"and they both work as expected. The only thing that I have still an issue with is that there is nothing appearing in the waterfall.? As seen in the screen snip, here I am monitoring Angelo, WA2UJR, who was coming in very strong.? I tried everything that came to mind to have a visible waterfall but no joy.? Any thoughts on what I'm missing? Thanks once again. Gary

It isn’t just flrig but also fldigi that you have helped me with, and ?that has allowed me to get back the use of one of my favorite applications, while also getting one step closer to throwing off my need
for Windows.? To be honest, it was a podcast I listened to recently that gave the Apple universe much higher marks for security than the competitors.? Granted, that was in relation to storage and web browsing, especially when combined with the Google suite,
that has led me in this direction.?
?
Those of us who have made the change, or perhaps just started out here, appreciate your efforts to take their lawyers and developers actions as a challenge and continue to win the battle.
?
BTW, unless you have nothing else going on that requires your attention, don’t feel the need to jump right into this last issue.? On the other hand, if you see this as your next challenge, who am I to tell
you otherwise.? ?
?

Re the lack of waterfall.? ?Try to get some more audio level into the computer from the rig when in RX.
But not so that the "Diamond shaped" indicator changes from Green to Yellow, and definitely not Red!
Or, just adjust the two "WF" levels on the left immediately below the waterfall.? The left most, represents the upper level, the other the dynamic range, in effect Brightness and Contrast!
Have Fun!

Hi, Dave.
?
Thanks for the suggestions.? As everyone might have realized by now, this is something I could have figured out for myself if I remembered the four letter phrase “RTFM” (Read The Friendly Manual)!? After I
was actually seeing a waterfall I tried everything I could think of to have it match what I see when connected to my Win10 laptop and almost everything looks the same now, the exception being that I get much less deflection on the scale at the bottom center
of the form, up to about -50 on the Mac and at least half again on the Win10 laptop, both using SignaLink USB interfaces.? I’m not going to sweat that, though.
?
Thanks, again!

Gary,
On the Mac go to Audio Midi Setup in Utilities, at least that is where it is on mine and make sure the volume is all the way up on the USB Audio Codec. See Screen Shot.
