Re: #Z-817 random behavior when tuning #Z-817

Edited

Hello Everyone,
?
After I posted, I did some additional experimenting and found that performing a " Power-On Microprocessor Reset" on my Yaesu FT-817nd corrected the issue.? The procedure will reset reset all memories and menu settings on the 817 so it is advisable to backup or record your configurations prior to performing the reset.
?
The procedure is simple, hold down the Home button as you power up the radio.
?
Good luck, hope this may be of help.

LDG AT-100PRO II - in bypass into dummy showing higher SWR

Since my topic is not showing, i will describe one more time .
Hope somebody can explain me this :?
?
My rig (TS870s) antenna port is connected in standard way to AT-100PROII. Then tuner ANT1 output is connected to 50 Ohm dummy load. Tuner is set to ANT1 and in bypass mode.??
Rig is showing on entire HF band 1:1 SWR. Which is to be expected.?
LDG is showing me not expected values.?
160m - 1:1.7 (it could be to 1.9 ... you know the bar graph)
80m,40m - one bar graph less - i.e - 1.5 to 1.7?
30m - 1.5 to 1.7 starts blinking
20m?- one bar graph less - i.e - 1.3 to 1.7?
17m,15m,12m -? 1.3 to 1.7 starts blinking
10m - one bar graph less - i.e - 1.1 to 1.3?
I was expecting showing 1:1 on entire HF . Or i am wrong here ??
?
There is one more mystery, LDG is showing me more power than my RIG. My rig is showing maybe 80 and LDG show that is 100-125 Watt. The last LED is ON... if I put the rig on full power, LDG is showing over 125W... which I do not believe, that my rig is possible to give.? My rig is not capable to deliver even 100W , according the bargraph on rig.?
?
? Tuner is new, bought 2 weeks ago, and since then its showing this weird values.?

Re: #Z-817 random behavior when tuning #Z-817

Good Day Thomas and group,
?
Apologies for resurrecting this thread but I am having exactly the same issue with a Z-817 I just purchased.? I was wondering if you were able to solve the problem you were experiencing??

well, I am a day late.......? Out cutting and cleaning tails for the upcoming 4X4 event.

I learned the hard way to not ground the chassis.? When using it as a tuner for my backpack radio set, it would not tune properly.? I remounted it using nylon screws and nuts with rubber washers isolating it from the backpack frame.

I have the LDG-1000 Pro2. When I turn it off, it switches to the second antenna port. There is no way, as far as I know, to get it to stay on the first port when powering off. If your antenna was set on the first port, the LDG tuner (powered off) ?had no antenna in the line you turned on the transmitter, so there went the smoke.

Hope this helps!

I have a 200ish feet random wire for generic multi-band use. The tuner in the radio or PW1 won't cut it on this antenna on some bands.

I thought I could leave the LDG (1000ProII) attached to the 7610 for that, bypass LDG with it's front panel control when not wanted. Turn off PW1 tuner when LDG used.

With the PW1 tuner turned off, I actuated the 7610 tuner button to initiate tuning the LDG.

POOF! Yup, the LDG runs on smoke. This tuning request was performed via the iPad SDR remote app, so I didn't get to watch the system in person.

What crazy simple thing(s) am I not understanding, please?

NOT blaming LDG - have 3 and luv em.

Re: Y-ACC-1

I found this to be true in a lot of applications. The fold back doesn't come from the tuner but, it's your rigs "self preservation" kicking in. Some set-ups do lower the tune power. These are the ones using more specific cables than the YACC 1. I believe the Icom cable and the YACC3 both lower the power, when used with? with a 7610 and FTDX3000 respectively.

Re: Y-ACC-1

The issue is that Yaesu doesn't support it in their firmware.??

Re: Y-ACC-1

Amen! I have an 891 and Z11 ProII - connected by that cable - that I use in my shack, and I¡¯ve seen plenty of references - including one by a very popular Wisconsin-based YouTuber - that tout the ability of the that combo to fold back power when tuning. It does not. And none of the entities touting that ability appear to be interested in correcting their claims.?
