Re: AT-100Pro

Yes the LDG tuners are not SDR, the firmware is in ROM or PROM, an IC.

Many of their now on the market tuners have been around for a while and I am sure there have been some changes, but I dont LDG offers upgrades of their firmware.

Does anyone know if the M-1000 meter will become available again? Or is a replacement planned? I can’t find one at any dealers in Europe. Would like one to match my At-1000 pro2. ?

regards Ian

Re: RT600 Calibration Procedure #z-11

I have an LDG 600 ProII. I had it in manual?mode which I had to retune everytime I changed bands. This worked well for me. Reading the service manual I learned how to put it in automatic mode. I did that and changed swr from 1.7 to 2.0. The rf activates the tuner. Unbelievable how good that works! Now I can work spots on 40 then go to 10 and do the same thing. It produces a full 600 watts on all frequencies. It works the complete 10 m band.

Re: RT600 Calibration Procedure #z-11

it is an original unit and with the board being worked on the bench, some of the controls on the PCBA might have been altered (unknown). Hence, if there is a procedure I would like to use it to calibrate and verify the correct functionality. It is being proactive since the tuner is opened and on the bench, that is the time to do it.?

If someone has the procedure, please let me know here or via direct messaging.

Thank you,

Gene

Re: RT600 Calibration Procedure #z-11

I doubt that changing a relay would require recalibration.
At worst the unit has to have the memory cleared so that the attempts to tune with the correction switched in by the relay would be incorrect.?
The software would assume the value of the correction in it's basic programming.?
Even without clearing the memory at the next retune the solution would be stored for that frequency.

I don’t have an answer for you, but just another question.? Changing a RELAY requires a RECALIBRATION on the RT-600??

?

I have the RT600 remote tuner which I just replaced a burnt relay and would like to perform a calibration procedure prior to putting it back into service.

Can anyone provide me the calibration procedure for the RT600 or the RT100. I have seen a generic procedure in the files section but I prefer the one that addresses all adjustments on the circuit board assembly.

Thank you, K5PA, Gene

RC/RT-600 Memory Tune Oddity

I recently acquired an RC/RT-600 to replace an AT-600 ProII that I set up remote at the base of my flagpole antenna.? The AT-600 replaced and RT-100 in the same application.? With the RT-600, if I tune on a band, and transmit several times, it does a full tune on the first transmission and a memory tune on the subsequent transmissions.? If I change bands, tune there, and go back to the original band, it does a full tune on the first transmission.? Is this right?? If it is, why does the tuner need 2000 memories?

LDG tuners are not open source.? You would need to contact The Mom And Pop company directly for everything.? Not a big corporation or some mystery China company.

Steve –

When I first set it up, I felt the same. But now that I’ve used it for a while, it seems natural to hold the button for a second and the issue is gone.

?

I seldom use bypass and virtually never use quick tune.? I just let it follow the rig and do its thing.? I’m “sort of” operating remotely, as I am more focused on the computer screen in front of me than the rig/amp/tuner etc which is on another rack 90 degrees to my right.? Once “trained,” when operating WSJT-X (or any other digital SW) I just listen for the momentary “click” and know it’s ready to go.? I’m actually pretty impressed with this little unit.? In some ways, it’s way ahead of my Elecraft KAT500.

Lyn, I have also been wondering about the bypass/quick/full tune button setup since the AT series was introduced - very awkward function combination! ?The timing gap between a quick tap to bypass and a 0.5 second press to quick tune is just too narrow.. ?In bright light, the bypass indicator LED can be hard to see unless it’s directly ahead. ?More than a few times, I have inadvertently bypassed the tuner while tuning. ?For something as critical as a bypass, it should have its own button.

I am actually thinking of redoing the front panel buttons and have them controlled by a Raspberry Pi Pico + relay board to enhance the tuner’s capabilities to run in my remote rig setup. ?Doing so would allow remote access to the tuner functions and eliminate human button pressing timing concerns for end users..?

Memory tune on the LDG AT-897 Plus tuner is done by holding the TUNE button until the LED comes ON. ? Perhaps this is also possible on other LDG tuners. ? Perhaps not. ?

(The AT-897 tuners were only compatible with the Yaesu FT-897/D transceivers).

Sorry, misunderstood question.? My early reply was in reference to using ALE.? When scanning with ALE you would want the tuner to go to bypass after sounding/transmitting.? If tuner remains in line while scanning it has an affect on the other freqs being scanned.

Please disregard my early post.

As far as I know the AT-600 and 1000 do not go into bypass after tuning, wish they did.

The only way I have got them to go into bypass after tuning is to use the other ALE program, connect the LDG USB device to the meter port and set the parameter in the program to control these tuners.? Have not figured out a way yet to do this with ION2G.

If you find a way please let me know.

My AT-600 ProII does the same thing.? It is not going to bypass because the SWR is good, but signal levels are down 10 dB or more on receive.? I have ferrite clamp-ons on the control cable at the antenna, but my suspicion is that RF on the control cable is interfering with operation.
