Re: correct cable for FDX3000

Carey;

?I have exactly the same setup, with an AT600ProII, and FTdx3000, and an amplifier. The Y-ACC-3 will do exactly what it says it will do; drive a radio tune cycle (CW, key-down, 5 watts output) from the ¡¯Tune¡¯ button on the AT600. My situation was slightly complicated by the fact that my chosen amp (Ameritron ALS-606) also uses the DB9 connector to interface with the FTdx3000. My solution was to create a customized cable which encompasses both the AT600 and the ALS-606 needs into one DB9 connector. Works like a charm. (There are no conflicts as to which DB9 pins each one requires.)

?If you dig out the schematic for the FTdx3000, you will find that several of the signals are connected to multiple connector pins, so you have a bit of flexibility as to which connector you choose to grab the required signal from.?

I'm curious and a little confused about which cable is correct to run the AT600Pro on My FTDX 3000. I bought this tuner to go with an amp and without the amp it's not needed, the internal tuner handles everything just fine for out of the box power.?It appears that the Y-ACC-3 is the recommended cable for the FTDX 3000 but I'm asking, WHY? The Y-ACC-3 uses the 9 pin CAT control connector instead of the 8 pin Tuner jack on the back of the radio. The Y-ACC-2 has the 8 pin tuner connector.? Is this correct or a misprint since the LDG site went down and what's left is useless. The FTDX-1200 uses the Y-ACC-2 cable and most things I find if they work on the 1200 they work on the 3000; so it doesn't really make sense why a newer model radio had to go backwards to the CAT control, to run the tuner, instead of the Tuner port. But I'm really asking is why the cat control jack instead of the tuner jack? It doesn't make sense to me, not to mention that no one has had LDG cables for months and they show 6 more months lead time everywhere.?I can make one with the right Pin out but I'd like to find the why's and how's to be sure I make the right cable.
