Gents, I have sent the reports for the 7the game turn of the battle of Savo. I am late because some orders came late, and other ones required some clarification. Please issue ordres for game turn 8 before next friday (7 February). I hope that every of you will be on time, so the game can proceed at good speed. I have gathered the Chinese orders for the battle of Guam and will run the turn on monday, if possible. The CiC of the Chinese team has issued instructions to his fellows and I have good hope to have orders for the red team very soon. Those two games are late because the player in question is a sailor and was at sea. There is no negligence or lazyness from anyone, the games are going on. Best regards to all, Francis

Bonjour à tous, ce qui participent à cette partie Harpoon savent à quel point elle a du mal à démarrer. Comme je l'ai dit dans un précédent mail, l'équipe chinoise ne parvient pas à trouver le temps pour rédiger ses ordres. Les premiers ordres chinois me sont parvenus, après maintes relances, avec six mois de retard, et j'attends depuis ceux du second tour depuis trois mois. Je comprends parfaitement la profonde frustration des joueurs de l'autre équipe et leur présente mes plus plates excuses pour cette situation indépendante de ma (bonne) volonté. Il est bien évident qu'il est impossible de continuer de cette fa?on. Je cherche de nouveaux joueurs pour remplacer ou suppléer les joueurs chinois existants. Dès qu'une nouvelle équipe chinoise aura été constituée, je relancerai la partie, avec l'ambition de maintenir un tempo de jeu assez soutenu. Je demande donc aux membres de l'équipe occidentale de se remotiver et de se replonger dans leurs archives. J'espère leur donner des nouvelles au plus vite. Gents, those who participate to the Harpoon V games I organize know that the tools for PBEM are not simple, niether for me nor for the players. There are two documents, one in text (.odt ou .docx) for the general orders, and a spreadhseet (;ods or .xlsx) for the movement. Hence, I guess we all agree that there is room for improvement: it should be better to use only one document. I see two solutions for that. The first solution is to use a text document only. It would make things more simple, but would not allow you to plot your movement as the actual spreadsheet allows. So, it's a bad solution if you actally use the spreadsheet to plot your movements. Do you ? The second solution is to eliminate the text document and use only a spreadsheet. I made a prototype. Please have a look at it and tell your feelings. Thanks, Francis

Gents, when you launch torpedoes, you have to precise their bearing. You can use the method described in the rules of Long Lance! (it comes from Command at Sea) or whatever other manner you wish. Please note that there is a tool in the Seekrieg discussion board that might help you. It can be downloaded at /g/SEEKRIEG/files The bearing of torpedoes can also be guessed with the help of the Google Earth ruler. tell me if you want me to elaborate. Best regards to all, Francis
