Re: Freshwater leaking into port bilge
#380s2
We had a leak in the hand held hose for the sugar scoop shower that drained the tank and filled the bilge.

¿ªÔÆÌåÓýstainless pex crimp rings and crimp tools are pretty inexpensive - $20 for the tool - and IMO better than the slip-in style¡ but you do need room to get the tool onto the connection¡-Rob

Re: Freshwater leaking into port bilge

I had a problem with the plastic tees that connected the water lines to the hot water heater. One developed a small crack which slowly leaked water in the port bilge on my 2001 lagoon 380. I replaced with brass tees (3/8) and used a heat gun to insert into the metric water hoses. Lot easier that replacing the entire water line. Chris Wild aboard Wildcat (lagoon 380 hull85) |

Re: missing prop
We switched to 3 blade Flexofold props on our 2012 L400. It was the best investment we've made to the boat, after solar. We get better speeds when motoring and better speeds sailing. I've followed this forum for years and most have recommended the Flexofold props and Cruising Solutions as a dealer. We followed the recommendations and couldn't be happier. we purchased the 17x13-3L flexoflod props. Arlene s/v WAHOO? Troubleshooting Tip
first, pay attention to your fresh water pump. if it cycles on it own every once in a while, meaning no one has open a faucet, it should not, never. If it does, you have a leak on the pressurized side of the water system. If it never cycle on it¡¯s own, then you can focus on drains, airco, fridge, tanks, etc. One thing to keep in mind is from fresh water tank to pressure pump is not pressurized and could be leaking without pump cycling. Hot water tank is pressurized and transom shower also.? if it¡¯s not on the pressurized side of the system; A leak as big as you describe will empty your tank noticibly. Stop using starboard showers and sinks for a few days. If you still get water in the bilge on that side, it¡¯s not a drain issue, unless you have fresh water heads then it could come from head water intake. Its not a fix, but a great way to start troubleshooting. Hope this helps.? -- ¡ª- David |

Steve,
I was replying to Marc to try to help him find his leaks in that area but have never personally had that problem.? I described the same water lines you did and, although I didn't specifically mention the 90 degree bends, that's exactly where I was thinking
that a leak could develop.? Amazing!
Having spent many days working in that area installing components of a modular water maker, I can easily visualize it.

Glen,
As a prior owner of a 2001 380 owners version, I had the same problem. I eventually found a leak had developed in the plastic water lines running from the pump under the galley sink to the sink and shower in the master head. These
lines ran to starboard under the galley range and cabinet. They then made a 90 degree turn forward running behind the pantry cabinet and behind the top of the steps becoming accessible under head sink.?
My leak developed in the area of the aforementioned 90 degree bend, which may be slightly visible inside the owners cabinet forward of the escape hatch/window (at the very top). ?The water would run down the inner hull in a location
I could not see or access, then travel aft to under the fuel tank and eventually overflow into the bilge.?
I replaced both water lines (not fun) and the problem was corrected.?
Hope this helps!
Steve

¿ªÔÆÌåÓý
On my 380-S2 owners version, there are no factory freshwater lines near the starboard fuel tank.? A leak in the lines that run from under the kitchen sink to the starboard head could definitely fill the starboard bilge but that should drain into the bilge under
the cabinet between the escape window and the stairway forward of the fuel tank.? A failure in the sink drain near the thru-hull in that area could also fill the bilge.
I did have a leak into the bilge under the starboard bunk but that turned out to be rainwater from the large hull window.? The seal failed at the top because it wasn't properly sealed at the factory.

Re: Freshwater leaking into port bilge
#380s2
Marc, On a 380, a freshwater leak in the port hull is most likely to be one of two things.? 1) The deck shower fitting is leaking (start by looking on the port engine room and following the pipework forward) 2) The water heater pipework or valve has degraded/corroded. This is under the port rear berth. If there is a leak, the water tends to pond around the batteries.? A leak from the pipework under the sink in the port heads is also possible - but less likely.? If you hear the pump under the galley sink cycling from time to time when you are NOT using water, then it is likely to be 1), otherwise 2).? Hope that helps.? they could comment on or one they would recommend?? Thanks

missing prop
Went to get water from mooring today.? Once released, determined quickly I had no fwd or reverse on port engine.? With some help did not? hit anything as finally managed to get hooked up again.? Messed with SD50 saildrive from on top.? All looked good.? Linkage, etc.? Had recently (approx. 400 nm ago in NC had pulled and replaced seals in SD50's. ?? Now in South Florida waiting on window to cross.
Finally dove under to find No Prop.? Dirty muddy, river water can't see 2 ft.? been swinging for 2 weeks so huge radius. So here is the question, got 2013 L400 with 40hp Yanmar and SD50 Saildrives.? Can anybody tell me what standard size for 2 blade prop/cone ( see pic) and where a person might fine one around Stuart FL.? Size and pitch if anyone might know.? Prefer not to pull other in this dirty river where you can hardly see in front of you.? Thanks for any input. |

Re: How to add AC
I have a 2017 450S owners version, with A/C. ?
If you have ducting, try to place units to minimize having to run or move additional ducts. ?In our case, I believe we have 4 units. ?One for each cabin, and one for the salon. ?The salon unit is under the bench seating in the salon, in the forward corner of the seat. ?The cabin units are under the beds behind the under bed drawers. ?Not sure on the BTU, as I am not on the boat currently. ?But I can check in a few days if you don't get an answer. One note on the 220V and shore power. ?We also have 220V version. ? Our unit works fine on the 50hz vs 60hz issue. ?Although people have said we should worry. ?The problem for us is voltage. ?The marina we are in runs 208V. ?And since we are on an end tie, we end up with 203-205V most of the time. ?The A/C runs, but will occasionally, (particularly the salon unit) will error out and shut down with a Low current message. ?When we run the generator, we haven't ever had an issue. How to add AC
My 2004 Lagoon 43 PC (owner's version, 220 V ) lacks air conditioning, which is going to be a problem as I relocate from Vermont to Florida. There are air ducts that will blow "cool" or heated air throughout the boat. Any suggestions as to how I can add AC to this boat -- how many units, BTU's, where to place the units, etc.? Thanks!
