Re: L440msliding door rollers part # please
Radman,

My door wheels appear to be shot - could be wheels and or wheel frames???? I too have a L400, so can you provide me any more detail on how you removed the sliding window and swapped them out with the door?
?
Any help greatly appreciated

If anyone does successfully rebuild these, I'd be curious how and with what materials for the rollers and axles. Thanks. |
Re: L440msliding door rollers part # please
开云体育Yeah, the price did seem rather extreme. I gave them to my friend in his machine shop to make me a pair of delrim rollers. Swapping with the galley window, very smart. I never thought of that. Joe ? From: [email protected] <[email protected]>

I thought this was a ridiculous amount of money to pay for these rollers when all that is needed is to replace the nylon wheel. I plan on just rebuilding mine some rainy day by cannibalizing a set of door rollers from a hardware store. In the meantime, I swapped the rollers from the window with the door on my L400. The window gets less use and probably less weight so they were in great shape. And the worn flat rollers that wouldn't work at all on the door seem like they are pretty happy with window duty for now. It's been four months of daily use so far with no issues. ? RADMAN |

Re: Bow Compartment Fitted Out
#lagoon400
Well, if you want to add a hatch between the forward cabin and the bow locker it is certainly possible. However, if you want to keep the safety aspect of the locker, you need the hatch to be watertight. I have seen charter cats with hatches between the front cabins and the bow compartments that were similar to normal internal boat doors, i. e. NOT watertight.
Bear in mind that in a normal L400, such hatch will be accessible only by climbing over the berth in the cabin. Of course you can add a hatch in the shower bulkhead of the owners shower compartment. It must be watertight as here there is water from the inside not only in bow crash...? However, think about the person sleeping in the bow - he would be going out of his bed into the boat through the shower that may be occupied? It may be more convenient (and less expensive) to climb out through the deck hatch.? |

Re: Bow Compartment Fitted Out

开云体育When Lagoon builds out the bow birth for sleeping, they put in an escape hatch in the forward cabin bulkhead ?that is at the level just above the hull bottom in case the cat has flipped in which case the frwrd cabin bed would be under water and the escape hatch above. They are your grandchildren after all. If you wanted to remove the mirror and have a 2nd means of access, no problem with that. Joe Sea Of Love L440 BVI ? From: [email protected] <[email protected]>

Re: Bow Compartment Fitted Out

Yes. When our L400 was built they fitted it with the bunks in the bow. When they do that, Lagoon adds small 9” hatches on the inner side of the bows for air flow. They also install the larger emergency escape hatches on the walls between the bow compartments and the forward cabins, which includes the shower on our boat, which is the owner version. Re: Bow Compartment Fitted Out

My 2 cents. ?(likely not worth the price)
The port side of my 450 is fitted out. ?There is an opening to the forward cabin, but it is covered by the mirror above the bed. ?I view this currently as an emergency exit from the bow compartment. ?You could replace the mirror with a hatch. This is what I will do for the grandkids that I want to put forward to be close to their parents but give them their "own" room. ?(disclaimer-yes I would lock the top hatch and leave the hatch to the parents open.) The master side with the shower appears to be more problematic. ?The bow compartment would require cutting the bulkhead and I believe the shower is a "drop in", so will have a gap. ?So you would likely need to create 2 penetrations and a way to "hatch" both sides. ?Personally, I use that side for a sail and dive gear wet locker and it works great for that. -- Stuart S/V Rum Away 2017 Lagoon 450S #33 |
Bow Compartment Fitted Out
#lagoon400
When the water tight bow compartments are fitted out with bunks on a 400, is there a hatch in the bulkhead between the forward cabin and the bow compartment? Is it possible to put a hatch between the bow compartment and the shower in an owners version?
