Re: Lagoon 440 - Sliding Door to main Salon
Alistair,
I've heard several people say they had no way of latching the door open. On my 410 I have slide bolts (from the factory) installed at both the bottom of the door and at the window frames. See attached picture. Also here is the lock set for the Swift Trawler ST42. See picture. Again I'm not sure if the lock set is the same as ours but it sure looks like it. I also attached a photo of the ST42 rollers which are a double set of wheels. Sure would be nice if they fitted as an upgrade. Lagoon/ Beneteau use a lot of the same parts, not only between boats and manufacture but over the years few things change. Steve in Solomons MD 410 S2 E |

Re: Paint at Saloon window frames
I had problems with the paint.
Ended up by buying vinyls to replace the paint. I¡¯m going to fit them shortly so I will Let you know but from research, I understand that they are much better and longer lasting. Regards Marc -¡°linocat¡± Lagoon 380s2 Currently cruising the West Country in the uk. |

Re: Lagoon 440 - Sliding Door to main Salon
The sliding door on my 421 has always had difficulty mating with the window and clicking shut and locking. This has been made worse by it becoming unlatched when open and then sliding wildly open and shut when the boat rolls in the waves or wash of other boats.
We improved things considerably by making a wedge the exact width of the opening and putting it in the bottom track every time we open the door. This slowed down the rate of degradation. Last winter the boatyard took the door off and replaced the bearings that the door slides on which allowed the door to be adjusted better than when it was delivered. I can check the cost. We still use the wedge and hope this will allow the repair to last. Alistair O'Reilly YoYo 421 - #225 a@... |

Re: Lagoon 440 - Sliding Door to main Salon
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýJeff, This is an ongoing issue with most of the Lagoons. Do you have a picture of the rollers use on the 440? I¡¯ve attached a picture of the 410 Rollers to see if they are the same as yours. I also have found that the Beneteau Trawler ST42 looks to have the same hardware as the Lagoon Slider including the lock but have not verified this. Also I keep coming up with parts from Southco company at the Beneteau site. The rollers are a continuing issue with the Lagoons so if you find something out let us know. ? Steve in Solomons MD 410S2 E ? From: [email protected] <[email protected]> On Behalf Of Jeff Burnes ? We have an issue with our sliding door, it appears the rollers are either shot or need adjusting. I just had a domestic sliding door specialist look at it and he did not want to touch it, he said we need to contact Lagoon or a boatyard? |

Bilge pumps on 440
After many years, I am wondering.
Our 2006 440 #121 came with two bilge pumps in each hull. The diaphragm run dry pump is wired to the upper helm switch.? No auto activator.? Discharge is aft from the sugar scoops on outside of each hull. The other pump is a Rule type activated only by a flip up high water switch in the bottom of the bilge.? Discharge is thru the Plastimo manual pumps located on the outside locker under the coach roof directly down in front of the life raft space.? Regular bilge cleaning (we run a/c drip into the hulls) revealed the Plastimo configuration was blocking discharge (probably from lack of use) and I have bypassed that system.? I installed anti siphon valves in the lines, as the lines held so much water back flowing into the bilge the pumps would never stop.? The anti siphon valves work as planned. Question:? ? ?Why not wire both pumps to the one auto float switch?? They both could also be manually activated by the helm manual switch. Any insights would be appreciated. Also it would be great if all members would ID their boats and locations. Walt Kass 2006 440 #121 Joy Of Tahoe Tracys Landing, Maryland |

Re: ¡°Really Intelligent ¡° charging system
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýI can concur this works great. I posted pics of my setup a month or so ago here and to cruisersforum.com forum after Rainer had told me of his setup. So following his advice, I have??electric?fridge under the 380 seat instead of an ice cooler. This is an almost exact fit compared to the cooler that came with the boat.
However, I did not know the load output is coming direct from solar panels? I had thought the algorithm turns on a relay, which allows current from the battery to flow through the load terminals.

Re: ¡°Really Intelligent ¡° charging system
We have smart MPPT solar charge controllers by Victron Energy, and they have a load output that can be used for dumping excess energy (configurable, for example turn on if voltage >13,5V and off if it drops below 13V).?
Our battery monitor BMV700 by Victron Energy also has a configurable output that can do the same thing, but also taking battery SOC into account (like turn on relay whenever state of charge >98%). We converted the external igloo ice box under the cockpit settee into a huge fridge strictly for drinks (OK, and water melons). The fridge runs only on excess energy:cool drinks in the morning and ice cold drinks from noon to late in the evening, all without any draw from the battery. Rainer |
