Re: Lagoon 380 Electrical Wiring Diagram

This is a question I have seen asked many times over. For some reason Lagoon originally determined that such information was proprietary. They have relented in recent years so you may get lucky if you contact them directly. On the other hand, someone on the site may be able to share their success obtaining these drawings.?

There was a huge thread about this on the leopard cats list - still on yahoo. ?I’d recommend joining, then searching the archives. A number of professional glaziers chimed in. DOW 795 was the right sealant, IIRC. The other advice was: mask mask mask and mask some more, as the leopard factory was apparently using expired or incorrect sealant and even a decade later it was not fully cured. I doubt Lagoon has similar problems.

Re: Lagoon 380 Sail Upgrade

There is a lot that affects the price of a sail. Main thing is the quality of the dacron. The more dense the weave is, the longer the sail will last. Cheap Dacron with a less dense weave has more rain in it to make it stiff. When you flog your sails the resin breaks down. Try getting a quote from Mack Sails. They use high quality dacron and their prices are very reasonable. Less then what I've seen on this thread!?

Thanks for your note.? We’ve took delivery of our boat in Annapolis seven years ago but then moved her into the Great Lakes where we’ve summer cruised.? I got one price a couple of years ago of about $10k to get the mast cut a couple of feet and the mainsail cut as well.

Hi Frank
from memory it was $10400 including GST and the incidence sail from France was $9500 assuming we would end up paying GST on the way in. We bought a Genoa from them for our 380 while we were in New Caledonia and it fitted perfectly.?

Hey Scott.?

Same issue with us as well. L440 (build 148) Replaced it all for the 1700 version. You will notice that the new gear box is much quieter than the original that came with the boat. We haul up 60m of har inch chain so the extra power is well received. We always carry two extra solenoids, genuine quick, just in case after being caught out in Belize.?

Quick have left the Argo behind and now have the Dav(?). It appears to fit the existing mph tings for the Argo, but like you our Gypsy etc did not need replacing. The black water seal is something that our boat did not have and should have.

Just like you this is not an ad for Quick. But they do have super service and if u find yourself in NZ and looking for help the dealer down here will spend a long time talking things thru and giving as much free advice as he can. He is a top bloke. I wouldn’t use anything else on any other boat I own.?

Timing is everything.
?
Three days ago we found our Quick Argo 1500 inoperable, with the solenoid clicking from the helm switch.
?
With some advice from Steve and Paul at Quick in Linthicum, Md, we still could not separate the motor from the gear box.
Our only option was to drop the gearbox/motor from the gypsy.? After the four nuts shown in the manual diagrams were removed – not easy- the g/m would not drop down.? We found two extra bolts holding the two units together obviously put on by Lagoon at the factory and could only be removed by filing away part of the gear box.? After beating the g/m with a 10 pound sledge hammer we got it out.
The problem was the two extra bolts and the water entry from the solenoid to the motor – sealed at the motor but not at the solenoid box.? Turned the g/m into a giant anode and had to be replaced.
?
Quick had the gear box and motor in stock and we drove home happily looking forward to some more boat yoga installation.? The gypsy was in good shape and will be reused.
?
The new Quick motor has IP rated connections and water intrusion should not be a problem.? ?A waterproof solution will found for the solenoid box.

All of the folks at Quick were extremely helpful and above all, knowledgeable.

How much was the sail delivered to you?
Thanks

Re: Lagoon 380 Sail Upgrade

Hi Frank
we recently had a new main done through Burton Sails in Tauranga for our 400. We found him Knowledgeable and helpful. He go us some extra roach in the sail which seems better, still testing at the moment. He was $1000nz dearer than ordering the original from France but he fitted and we had the extra area.
