There was a huge thread about this on the leopard cats list - still on yahoo. ?I¡¯d recommend joining, then searching the archives. A number of professional glaziers chimed in. DOW 795 was the right sealant, IIRC. The other advice was: mask mask mask and mask some more, as the leopard factory was apparently using expired or incorrect sealant and even a decade later it was not fully cured. I doubt Lagoon has similar problems.

You will not get as good of a bond to the acrylic window material rebedding an existing window as you would get on a new one. That said, we rebedded 2 of the 8 large curved windows on our older Lagoon L37 TPI ?and then, due to the difficulty of removing the old ones, changed to just digging out the outer sealant and resealing them. Both approaches resulted in no leaks. But we do not expect them to last that way as long as replacing the acrylic would. There are 3 main sealants that bond to acrylic. They vary in that some are silicone based and some urethane based. They don't play well together so you want to determine which is on the outside. They are: 1) GE SSG 4000 glazing (only comes in black. GE tech told me that the SSG 2000 works as well and is a little more flexible. I went with 4000). 2) Dow 795 and 3) Sikaflex 295 with primer. You have to get as much of the old of as possible clean all surfaces really good. Do not get any acetone on the acrylic or it will turn cloudy. Use 50/50 isopropyl /water mix to clean it. ?Tape everything off. It's a big project!?

We've recently purchased a 2009 Lagoon 500 and have discovered a leak in starboard head that we traced back to the window in the salon. Has anybody attempted either a repair or full re-bedding of the wraparound windows on a Lagoon? Does a partial repair work, or are we looking at having to rebed the whole thing? Any idea whether Lagoon uses any kind of special bedding?

Thanks for any help.
