Re: Emergency Hatch Recall

I'll add that you should periodically inspect the rivets that hold the latch strikes to the frame for galvonic corrosion. If you replace them be sure to use tefgel on them to make them last longer. I've replaced the seals on mine once and they do not leak after 25ys. If you stay up on the maintenance you should have no problems with them.?

Hi All,
I own an early 42TPI and for years those hatches have scared the stuff out of me. Under passage in a good sea the panels just get pounded. Scary, but I just keep thinking those have been doing their job for years. So I was concerned when I heard about the recall.

I don¡¯t think I have those hatches since mine have hatch handles, albeit frozen in place, which would hold the acrylic panel in place in case there was a glazing failure.

Could someone quickly confirm that the hatches in question don¡¯t have hatch handles.

thanks,
Mark?
