Linda:? I spent as much time at the Waltman table as I did our own. Growing up with the kids was a treat in that going to the park was an every day occurance. I worked there in many capacities as a child from selling peanuts in between shows (Peanuts come in a 100 lb burlap sack & I was not strong enough to move it so Mr. Waltman would move it so that I could portion control the peanuts into little paper bags and sell them like that for 10 cents a bag), to the soda stand, to the ice cream stand. I have a copy of the book, saw all the big names. Larry¡¯s dad Lawrence just had a 98th birthday on August the 17th this past year. When I was older (15), during the summer I drove truck for and with Lawrence when he filled silos. As farm equipment, you did not need a license in those days. Hazel (Mrs Waltman & Larry¡¯s mother) would bring us out lunch into the field.? Paul

? Paulie¡ªmy son Richard did some electrical work for Larry Waltman at his place here in Jennersville.? Rich is a country music fan and Mr. Waltman showed him a book which features Sunset Park.? Sounds like Mr. Waltman loves talking about the good old days!? I know you stop to see him from time to time.? Did you ever see the book?? Did any of you ever go to Sunset Park?? Apparently all the big names of the time appeared there.? Wish I had gone. |
