Theatre Commons LA is launching a field mapping survey to better understand and serve theaters makers and artists of all types - actors, directors, designers, writers, stage managers, multi-hyphenates, everyone that identifies as a theatre MAKER! This data will be instrumental in: Identifying gaps in resources and support Creating targeted programs that address needs Fostering stronger connections within our theater community Developing advocacy strategies for the sector Building a stronger foundation for collective action Your participation in this survey is vital. Please fill out this QUICK (less than 10 minutes) survey. We hope this survey will help in compiling information as to what the LA theater community looks like as a whole as well as help identify needs and priorities looking forward. Rock Choir coming to Silverlake!
Voices Rock California, part of a vibrant network of community choirs that started in Denver in 2014, is excited to announce its inaugural six-week session at the Silverlake Independent Jewish Community Center in Los Angeles. This session will be led by Grammy-nominated recording artist, arranger, and music director Caleb Collins. Starting April 21st, join us each Monday from 7:15 to 8:30 PM for a six-week choir session led by the acclaimed Caleb Collins. The Road Concerts is looking for site-specific works in unexpected public spaces along the Rim of the World Highway (Crestline to Running Springs) for its eighth road concert, happening the weekend of July 26–27, 2025. Since its inception, the Road Concerts has featured work from over 300 artists and locals across seven events in Los Angeles. A “road concert” showcases a range of works, including installations, interactive pieces, performances, happenings, roving artworks, car art, readings, music, dance, temporary sculpture, and downloadable art. Stretching through the San Bernardino National Forest, past tourist attractions, historic landmarks, and suburban neighborhoods, the Rim of the World Highway will become both a stage and a public square—inviting interconnection and dialogue. An official map of the weekend's events, along with project descriptions and other downloadable information, will be available in the weeks leading up to the event. The City of Palmdale is accepting applications for stair murals to be installed at Pelona Vista Park. This exciting art initiative will transform the park’s two staircases leading to the north fields into visual expressions of the project’s themes of health, wellness, sportsmanship and community pride. With an all-inclusive budget of $10,500, the grant will cover all the necessary expenses, including the artist’s fee, paint supplies and equipment rentals. Included in the budget, the selected artist will receive a $450 stipend to create a color sketch or digital image of the proposed artwork to scale. Proposals must align with the project’s objectives, ensuring the artwork is family-friendly. During her tenure, she raised more than $1.5 million in government and foundation grants for the organization. As a result, Teatro Visión more than doubled its annual budget, programming, and audiences. She also offers grant writing and other non-profit consulting services to numerous community-focused arts nonprofits throughout the Bay Area and the state of California. Leigh is also a practicing theatrical designer whose work has been seen on stages throughout the Bay Area, Wisconsin, Colorado, New York City, and at the prestigious Prague Quadrennial of Performance Design and Space and a cake artist who has appeared on multiple shows on the Food Network. She holds a BFA in Drama from Carnegie Mellon University and an MBA in Arts Administration and a PhD in Interdisciplinary Theater Studies from the University of Wisconsin – Madison.
