TWO Summer Internships with TeAda Productions
The Los Angeles County Arts Internship program and TeAda Productions offer
paid internships for college students interested in theater production and
marketing. Each intern receives a total of $3000 (gross salary, before tax
withholdings) for a full time position (40 hours per week) for a ten-week
period between May 15 and September 15, 2001.
TeAda Productions is dedicated to theater for, by and about people of color.
Through creation, development and distribution (preservation and touring) of
interdisciplinary performance/ theater projects, TeAda Productions aims to
enrich the repertoire of contemporary work and presents and tours completed
original works to a local and national audience.
TeAda Productions announces TWO full-time summer positions in partnership
with the Los Angeles County Arts Internship program. The two paid
internships are available for currently enrolled undergraduate students who
reside or attend college in Los Angeles County, who have completed at least
one semester of college by June 2001, and will not have graduated before
December 2001.
Internship I: Production Intern
The Production Intern will act as Assistant to the Artistic director as a
line producer for the premiere of TeAda Productions? original collective
theatrical ensemble work "Native Immigrant" at the Japan America Theater.
Duties will include: community outreach, administration for the production,
distribution of marketing materials, archiving production materials, and
post-production networking and public outreach.
Duties and Responsibilities:
For the first two months of the internship, The Production Intern will
coordinate between cast, staff, and Artistic Director during the development
and rehearsal of TeAda?s original theatrical of "Native Immigrant." This
intern will be responsible for attending rehearsals in addition to
completing administrative duties in the office. After the production is
complete, the intern will work on administrative tasks within the
organization. The intern will also assist the Artistic Director on
fundraising and development. Development work includes researching grant
possibilities, assembling grant applications, assisting in grant writing,
and coordinating of other fundraising events for the organization.
Skills and Knowledge:
This intern should have an interest and knowledge of theater production and
producing a community theater piece. This intern should also show an
interest in working with Asian Pacific Islander community and communities of
color. This intern must be capable of communicating effectively and have an
interest in the pre and post production elements of producing a performance.
This intern will preferably understand a Mac system and basic Microsoft
application (Word, Excel), Filemaker Pro, Quark, Photoshop, and HTML.
Interest in web design a plus. There will be occasional weekend and evening
hours depending on a particular project. They must have a car and a valid
CA driver?s license and insurance.
Internship II: Marketing Intern
The Marketing Intern will be responsible for assisting the Operations
Manager with community outreach and marketing for the premiere of TeAda
productions original collective theatrical performance, "Native Immigrant."
After the June production, the intern will continue to work on developing
existing and new marketing strategies for our organization.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The intern will assist in the re-design and distribution of marketing
materials (press releases, e-mail notices, and fliers) for June?s production
of "Native Immigrant." His/her main project will be the creation of the
company newsletter. He/She will work with the Operations Manager and
coordinate press and booking materials. The intern will redesign the scheme
of the website and create it into a more effective tool to build community
outreach for our organization. He/She will assist the Booking Coordinator
as the database manager, building the database of presenters and general
mailing list. He/She will also be the database manager. He/She will
contribute feedback on the design of the company website.
Skills and Knowledge:
This intern should have interest and/or experience in marketing and
guerrilla marketing tactics. An ideal intern would be a self-starter
interested in the organizational and business end of the arts. The interns
should also show an interest in working with Asian Pacific Islander
community and communities of color. The intern must be capable of
communicating effectively and have an interest in marketing a theater
program. The intern will preferably understand a MAC system and the basic
Microsoft applications (Word, Excel), Filemaker Pro, Quark, Photoshop, and
HTML. Interest in Web design and organization a plus. There will be
occasional weekend and evening hours. He/She must have a car and a valid CA
driver?s license and insurance.
