Re: Mold problems???

You are absolutely correct, Carol.? The mold issues caused by structural problems (eg a missing or insufficient foundation, cracked cupola grout, etc.) require a structural solution that addresses the root cause or the mold will just keep recurring. ?

Hello all, my property is 14 years old. On the southside inside base of the guest bedroom there was a damp. This was identified as flaking of the cement no black mold was noted but still a concern.?
This is the area that I have recently redeveloped. The manager of this project Gabriel Sorio identified that existing house did not have a foundation thus allowing dampness to creep into the house. He remedied this problem by digging a deep trough approximately 4 ft in depth around 3/4 of the house, adding a base vapour barrier, cement various layers of aggregate and a black liquid painted on the walls.?

The lack of a foundation could be the cause of the tiles lifting in many of our homes.?

I've been visiting a friend's home in France. She has an? extensive black mold problem.?

Mold cannot be eliminated from the inside of a home. Washing/scrubbing the walls is dealing with a symptom and not the cause. It is the exterior of the property that needs to be dealt with. The walls and floors will continue to suck up the damp and it will continue to be seen in the inside. As mentioned mold is dangerous to our health.

Hi, Labradores Friends.? I¡¯ve had multiple, serious black mold problems at my newly constructed house due to:

1) an improperly constructed foundation (no water vapor or sealant that damaged my master bedroom and bathroom; and?

2) an unsealed roof terrace floor that allowed leakage of rain and any other water runoff into my guest bathroom ceiling below. ?

Because black mold is such a serious health hazard, I had no time to waste in getting it addressed properly. ?

I hired a very able licensed, Mexican architect, who works with an engineer as needed, to remove the mold and address causal structural problems.? It involved digging up 1/3 of my foundation and waterproofing it, as well as sealing my roof terraza floors.?

The contractor¡¯s name is Abraham Del Rio and he¡¯s on WhatsApp at?+52 415 115 8636.? Erika, you already know him, and the work he did to fix my mold problems.

All situations differ.? While my one-year-old+ home¡¯s severe mold problems have been independently verified as caused by construction issues, in older homes the passage of time and natural elements could be the causes. Of course, the price of any repair service would be dependent on the cause and extent of your home¡¯s mold problem.? Just call your preferred contractor for a price quote, although I strongly recommend an objective, licensed independent professional to ensure it is done correctly, as mold can be a serious health hazard, not just a home maintenance issue.

On a related note, until last week I had a hard time finding a physician administering the m
test considered the gold standard diagnostic in the US to determine mold exposure.? But Dr. Nick Ransome, a naturopathic physician and Laurie Ransome¡¯a son by the way, has the mycotoxin test.? If you think you may have been exposed to black mold in your home and want the test, his assistant, Lucy, can be reached at?
52-415-100-0923.

Best wishes,

Jackie

Hi Erica, we have had mold in the master bathroom several times. I just got a hold of Sergio or Letty and they send somebody over to fix it. It may work for me because my house is still under warranty but I¡¯m not sure. Good luck. It¡¯s a nasty problem to have and can be dangerous.

Hello dear neighbors,
I live in the villas, have several cupolas, but there is mold only in the master bathroom and closet.? This is the bathroom that I use exclusively.
I have lived in the house for 14 years, have noticed some mold in the closet and treated it with Clorox, but the cupola is too high, and moisture cannot escape.
Before I call a contractor, I would like to know if others have this problem and what they have done (added ventilation in the cupola?? Resealed the cupola, etc.).? If a contractor was hired, could you share contact info, and also let me know how satisfied you were with the work and how much I can expect to pay?? Feedback to my email would be appreciated.

Many thanks,

Hola queridos vecinos,

Gracias!
