Morgan systems M303 coaxial surge suppressors used with the LA1k amp

 

I am buying a LA1K used amp this coming week and for lightning protection outside the house I have tow coaxial lines that each have a Morgan System M303 arrestor in line before the coax comes into the room. Bot ate mounted to a copper plate and also grounded with "6 wire to 8 ft ground rods. I was wondering if anyone had any experience using these arrestors where a SS amp might have issue passing a signal threw them cause the have a choke system inside that bleeds some of the static to ground and therefore just maybe that would create an issue with SS finals.
I live in Florida and these arrestors have been working fine with an Acom 1000 for three years, I used the Alpha Delta ones before but they seemed to have issues with the weather down here with varying SWR at times but once I installed the Morgan systems jobs no issues. They are very similar to the Array Solution jobs and the original design was taken from the I.C.E company that is no longer. Any input would be great, TNX.

Hi Jim,

I have the?Array Solutions AS-303 and?Morgan Systems?M-300. I didn't experience any issues with either of them and the LA1K is ok with them.

I have Morgan M-303 Suppressors on my antennas and have no problems on any band. ?I’m using an FT-DX10 to an HF-AUTO tuner with a Hexbeam and Endfed antennas. ?All work great through the Morgan’s. ?I also use a Morgan device for my rotator. ?I do have a fairly extensive ground system in and outside the house. ?Some pictures on my QRZ.com page. ?Hope this helps. ?73, Jerry K9TRX
 

The amp works without issue, really like having a 1Kw radio on hand plus instant band changing with a cat cable. Nice that 40 watts drives it to a kilowatt.

Looking at your QRZ page and my QRZ page I see that we are currently both using the Yaesu FTDX101D as the exciter.? Btw, I still have my LA-1K.

When I used to pair the LA-1K with my FTDX101D, it sure felt like having a 200W transceiver driving the LA-1K with much reduced exciter RF power.? However, feeling can be deceiving since it isn't like having a 200W FTDX101MP in terms of just its transmitter capabilities.? Please check out my 9-May-2023 post /g/la1k/message/1285 and I am quite sure you will see the subtle differences.

The Elecraft KPA1500/Yaesu FTDX101D combo, as seen on my QRZ page comes closer to having a 1kW transceiver (FTDX101KW?? lol) driving the KPA1500 with reduced exciter RF power.
