LA-1K AUTOBAND change issue.
Stephan Barott
I have used the LA-1K for some time now, basically on MARS frequencies outside of the HAM Bands, including the 60-meter band. Lately I have had issues with the LA-1K not using the correct band (not auto selecting). It gets confused with the certain frequencies including the 60M frequencies and does not know to use 40 or 80 to tune.
It would be very helpful to have a 60-meter selection on the amp.? I am also using 1.08S Stephan Barott N7QDZ |

开云体育Stephan ... By "auto-band change" do you mean band changing by RF sensing or by band-data line? Kent K9ZTV On Apr 22, 2024, at 7:11?AM, Stephan Barott <sbarott@...> wrote:

My thoughts exactly Kent.? I use the band data line and it has worked perfectly on all band switching. ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ?Best, ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ?Bob, W3RJP Robert J. Pegritz P.O. 开云体育It is the band data line, but when it tunes for cetatin frequencies, it does not trigger the amp output. It sends power to the radio at the input rate, or around ?25-30W without any assistance from the amp. Basically, it senses high SWR. If I physically use a different band on the amp and retune, it works. This amp has worked well on most frequencies. There are just a few this effects, only on MARS frequencies and outside of the ham bands. The TX on the amp turns purple does not allow transmitting with power. For MOST frequencies it works just fine without issues. It seems to be from the 40-60M range.??????? ? SB N7QDZ ? From: la1k@groups.io <la1k@groups.io> On Behalf Of Kent Trimble, K9ZTV

开云体育Stephan ...I'm confused by your "its."? Can't figure out what the pronoun is referring to at times. "when it tunes for certain frequencies" ... the amplifier doesn't tune for certain frequencies; it is broad-banded and simply picks the appropriate band-pass circuits.? It is the transceiver and the ATU that tune for certain frequencies. "it sends power to the radio at the input rate" ... the amp doesn't send power to the radio, it is the radio that sends drive power to the amp. "it senses high SWR" ... I presume you mean the amp.? What ATU are you using? I have never used the amp on non-amateur frequencies and always assumed they were locked out.? But apparently there is enough overlap at the band edges to allow your operation on MARS frequencies.? I seem to recall (but could be wrong) that Palstar came up with a special firmware release for licensed MARS operators.? Send Mark Ward an email (engineering2@...) and see what he says. Lastly, it is interesting that you can manually punch-in a given band and all is well.? That might indicate something is wrong in the band-data line.? I'd check the cabling on both ends.? Those are very small conductors. 73, Kent K9ZTV On 4/22/2024 9:08 AM, Stephan Barott
