I did a lot of prior research on available HF amplifiers, both in the new and used markets, and the LA-1K came out on top. I had narrowed my choices to solid-state amplifiers. Although tube amps are considered sturdy, they have a lot of negatives as well, compared to solid-state amps.
Operating the LA-1K is really dirt simple. I am sure someone out there will bemoan its simplicity, arguing for the old days, but not me. This amp is exactlywhat I want -an amplifier deliberately designed to be easy to operate.
