My LA1K commonly has a SWR spike on CW on occasion tripping it out.? If it holds in and does not trip the SWR is usually 1.4 or less and you can key down with issues.? My Hercules II will never trip.
?
Its not a huge issue for me but annoying.? I have never had it trip on phone. I have tried new coax straight to antenna out of back of amp bypassing chokes, meters, etc and it still does it.
The reason why I say that, if it measures 1.2 with an analyzer at very low power, it's highly likely something is heating up and saturating or arcing under the higher power.

If you haven't yet, go open your balun for that 43' vertical, check all the connections for any signs of arcing and check the insides, the wire windings etc for any charring or signs of arcing.
