I’m not an electrician, but a 500 watt amp seems to be the limit for ?a 120-volt line while ?a 1000 watt and above amp needs 240-volts.
My KPA500 gives reliable service from its own 120-volt circuit, while a Quadra, LA-1K, and 1.5K-FA are happy on a 240-volt line.
I tumbled to this truth early on (at age 16 in 1961) when a Gonset GSB-101 dimmed every light in the house and periodically blew the glass fuse to my shack/bedroom’s window air-conditioner when run from what was then 110-volts. ?I’d cool the room ahead of time and then leave the air-conditioner off while I operated. ?
Having an HQ-170C and GSB-100 plugged into the same outlet was not the smartest thing I ever did either.
