Please find below an excerpt (highlighted in bold/italic text for clarity) from 47 CFR Part 97 (up to date as of 5/04/2023), page 45 of 52, for your consideration, Dennis.

  1. (i) ?No station may transmit with an effective radiated power (ERP) exceeding 100 W PEP on the 60 m band. For the purpose of computing ERP, the transmitter PEP will be multiplied by the antenna gain relative to a half-wave dipole antenna. A half-wave dipole antenna will be presumed to have a gain of 1 (0 dBd). Licensees using other antennas must maintain in their station records either the antenna manufacturer's data on the antenna gain or calculations of the antenna gain.

Accordingly, I believe the "50 watts ERP" so alluded to in your post has been superseded!

If 60M were a band available on the LA-1K amp (which it isn't), using the amp on the 60-Meter band would be perfectly legal as long as a licensed amateur operator doesn't violate any and all pertinent parts of 47 CFR Part 97, as amended.

Oh btw, 60M capabilities are available on my KPA1500 amplifier (FCC ID: UTR-KPA1500) currently available from Elecraft, Inc.

Please feel free to visit my QRZ page to eyeball my Elecraft KPA1500 (next to my LA-1K) to see for yourself 60M can be selected by the push of the button 5 to the right of the button AUX located on the lower left corner of the KPA1500.? "Band 5 MHz" appears briefly in the Status/Menu Display of the amp each time the amp is being switched to 60M.
