I've noticed that there are a search path for 3D models in v6, yet all the components in the library has the KICAD6_3DMODEL_DIR prefix in the 3D model definition.

I'm a little bit confused, as it would be practical to omit that, and just use a relative path, and KiCad would figure out where to look for 3D models.

Or the search path is only used for 2nd party models?
