Thanks, Jon. If it is at 7.99, can 8.0 be far away? Should I wait?

I think you're out of luck, John. There are scripts to create symbols, but I suspect they are not useful for the kind of (analogue) stuff you want to use.

Perhaps if you post a list of what you're looking looking for, you find they exist already. Whether they are to your taste, is another matter. But honestly, if you've created symbols in LTspice, it's? hardly more onerous to do it in KiCAD, and they'll be prettier.

No-one can tell by extra-sensory perception.

Upload your .ASC files AND all the other files required to run the simulation, but not? .RAW nor .LOG files, as a ZIP archive to Files => Temp and then tell us you did that.

Do you have "locked items" turned on in the selection filter on the bottom right?

Using 6.0.11 here on linux works fine

click on the footprint and it highlights. Select propeties and then
choose lock/unlock as needed.

The crosshairs are the zero or placement point.
i.e where you click on the that will be where the module is placed
around.

It's usually in the centre of smd components as that;'s where the pick
and place machines like to grab, but for things like pin connectors it's
often centred on pin 1

The board dimensions don't matter it's where in the grid things go that
is important.
If you find keeping track of the positions a bit awkward - and it can
be -

Shove a pad down somewhere known, even if way off the board say at
x,y, 500,500 on both layouts and LOCK it. Then set down your connectors on
each board FIRST relative to that pad use the move relative option in the
move command. Then LOCK the connectors in place

You can then lay out the boards around the connectors. Once you are
happy, just remove the lock on the pad and delete it.

It's a good idea to add a not on the circuit diagram or layout as to where
the pad was, just in case you need to make mods later.

Dropping temp pads on the layout is a trick I use often especially for
drawing boundaries and so on. i.e. if I want a board 100x45mm then I drop
4 pads positioned relative to each other, then it's just a matter of
"joining the dots" with the line tool it's often quicker than fiddling
with the x y and lengths in the line properties.

Hi Andy and Jason,

I will try your suggestions,?
On one board, the connectors are on the back side.

How exactly I get the zero point of a footprint?

Both boards have different dimensions, but I try to define a common point of reference.

I never worked with step models. but likely ?will in the future.

Thanks for responding,
Axel

Am 23.04.2023 um 21:20 schrieb Andy <andygio@...>:

Look at the properties of the connectors on board that you have laid out.
That will tell you the x and y values.

Use those values to position the connectors on the other board, (just
enter them into the properties.

(It may be easier to shift the second board well away from the grid
origin, then position the two connector. Then you can move the board back
again. )

Make sure that the zero point of each connector footprint is in the
same place.

Other methods, use the move command, that has a couple of relative move
options, so you can place a footprint at a specified distance, which may
be more convenient.

Another method, make sure that you use the same grid for each board and
that that it aligns up. Then you can simply place the footprints on the
grid.

Re: Copying geometry from one board to another

Another suggestion, after placement, would be to export step models of both boards, and do a fit check in FreeCAD or another 3D modelling tool of your choice.? Select the two mating surfaces and add a constraint that they be coincident.? I'm not familiar enough with FreeCAD to know if it supports an overlapping?subassembly report, but you could just eyeball it and get an approximate idea of any problem areas.
