Hmmmm, well if you are dissatisfied with how a smallish group of people spend their 'free time' then you a most welcome to contribute your time, energy, and skills to move things along.? If your expectations are those of a commercial product then you can always buy the commercial product.
I also like KiCAD and complete survey. Why I`m pessimistic?
Because I`m very pessimistic about how speed KiCAD team react to users request.
Remember how long changing fonts was implemented, changing power symbol text? 10 years? 20 years?
Also low quality fonts and shapes?rendering?on schematic. See 20+ y.o. OrCAD or modern (and also free) QSPICE for reference implementation.
There are no GPU used during 3D raytracing.... and more and more. All of this is "must have" ... especially looking on calendar with numbers 2 0 2 4
I wish only good luck to KiCAD developers... prosit!?
