Re: Blue LED

So, to play Devil's Advocate here:

I've seen a couple of projects on Hackaday where FR4 PCB is used as a light diffuser.

A photorealistic rendition of the entire project, including seeing the light coming through the PCB, would not be a terrible thing to have.

This is by no means a complaint; I love KiCad!

And it's by no means a request; I currently don't have any need for such a thing.? It's merely an observation that a lot of things that may seem irrational at first glance are not necessarily so.

Best regards,
Patrick Maupin

Hi

In the 3D subject, for me, as long as Kicad allows for mechanically correct 3D models, its all I need.

Meaning what it already does is way more than enough.

After all, the? 3D main use is to make sure the board fits in its place on the finished product, and the interface devices (connectors, buttons, LEDs,...) align correctly with the openings of the enclosure or other boards.

But? I'm only a a 60 years old EE using Kicad for professional work. Other mileage may vary.

BTW, when I need to make a 3D model,? my goto tool is Freecad.

Jorge

High Stanislav,

I'm a 72 and it is a life I'm trying to learn, study, do something, making errors and correcting these.
I urge you to study, try, and try again, make mistakes and correct them, sometimes asking for help.

If you are graphical designer, why the hell are you using KiCAD?

There is a tool for every job. Personaly I don't give a f*** for photorealism, functionality is my goal. If someone does not like the rendering, it is his/her problem.

Blue LED designed by my son with Fusion 360.

Fusion 360 handles transparency but not Kicad. That's a shame.
