We're patiently waiting for KiCAD to include the features we need. Right now it's not there. Most of the stuff is on the roadmap in the next few years. Some things not, so we'll see.

It would be nice if KiCAD could import any of 1000+ eagle boards we have. Most of these boards are complex enough in terms of geometry and routes that KiCAD just runs away screaming! lol.

Again, hopefully some day...

As a small business I cannot afford to keep upgrading; once I have a "tool" that is fit for purpose we use it. The idea that you lose everything once your credit-card stops "giving" is alien to me. Imagine having to re-licence your oscilloscopes and spectrum analysers each year - if there was a way of doing it I'm sure they would.
We use Linux and open source where possible and we send donations to applications that we use often to keep the movement going. If it were not for a couple of apps that are "windows only" we would ditch that too....
