Re: Who do you use to get your boards made? #fab-house #pcb-manufacture

Well, I'm not really "advocating for" PCBWay. I've used OSH park, and the reason I'm now using PCBWay is mostly about speed and, secondarily, cost for larger boards. I typically get a 2-layer board to Colorado in about 6 days without paying for any expedite options.

I don't know if they accept KiCad files. I suspect not, but the process of generating the Gerbers and drill files, then zipping them up and uploading them to PCBWay is so straightforward that I think no one should be limiting their choice of fabs to only those that accept KiCad files. Also, I think it is a very good idea to look at the Gerbers for a sanity check before sending them for fab.

Cheers,
Doug

PS: OSH Park is happy to accept your KiCad file... you don't have the extra step of exporting to one of the more widely supported formats. If you have advocated for other fab services, maybe you could update your recommendation with the situation elsewhere?

Okay... I've finished my work with KiCad... now how do I turn the files into an actual PCB?

For my wants (simple!), OSH Park do a good job... the product is good, I can order as few as three, and the ordering process is brilliantly arranged. More at...

Others? (Maybe say a word about what you need the service for... a few bare boards for a hobbyist? More than that?)
