Please wait for the story to be published. We do our new product introduction at Hamvention Friday morning at 10 sharp! One week from the following Monday the website goes live. I support DARA and if you want to be first you need to be there. Otherwise you wait. I saw the other radio you think it is years ago and the developer and I agreed to build a NEW ground up radio. He has added his know how to my know how and PHOENIX is born¡ It is VERY MUCH TEN TEC inside!!!! I took the BEST of what we had, and the BEST of what he had, and the BEST of what I know how to do, and we added this up and you have the PHOENIX! PASS THE WORD! I need 100 pre orders for PHOENIX club. It costs you 500 NON REFUNDABLE DEPOSIT and I¡¯m using that to buy parts. IF you love Ten Tec, and you want Ten Tec to STAY in ham radio then you need to join the Phoenix club which assures you get a radio. The price goes up after the 100 spots close to be just like the other people¡¯s price. Who knows how long parts will take? If you aren¡¯t in the club you are going to have to WAIT and maybe WAIT a LONG TIME, because WHO KNOWS the state of the world and the economy then! IN the club gets you a certificate thanking you for the rebirth an relaunch of TT in Dayton and your name/ call on Plaque inside the lobby, free shipping lower 48, next year banquet pass for 1, limited to you and your SO if you are married, and a factory tour after the BBQ ¡°Dining with Ten Tec under the Stars (or Christmas tree lights if there are no stars ) Like everything else we will just have to make our own probably. I HAVE DONE MY PART FOR TEN TEC! I HAVE FULLFIILLED EVERY PROMISE I MADE. Ten Tec stayed open and still is open. Sevierville is CLOSED because they had 100 radios sitting on the shelf they did not open for a YEAR when they had NO WORK to do other than repairs! I sent every radio back to the owners and asked them to send the postage back to me if they could at a personal cost to me of over FOUR THOUSAND DOLLARS. Not ONE person sent back their postage. I promised you a NEW RADIO and you have SEEN it with your own eyes this weekend. Again I have done MY PART, MORE THAN ANY PERSON ON EARTH HAS EVER DONE FOR TEN TEC. Now it is YOUR turn. It is up to YOU if Ten Tec continues, or if I close it forever or just SELL it to the Chinese, and don¡¯t think I won¡¯t do it either. This is a two way street gentlemen. I¡¯ve kept my mouth SHUT about a lot of things for a long time until I could let my actions speak for my words. Forgive me if I am too direct and for not pulling any punches, but I¡¯ve been fighting an uphill battle with no money, no backing and no resources ever since I went in to this in 2016. You have no idea of how terrible things were at Ten Tec and the rape and pillaging that was done to the company by previous owners. It literally was SQUEEZED like an orange so hard that there wasn¡¯t even any rind or pulp left. I have had to rebuild EVERYTHING and clean up a 50 year old disaster. With the demise of MFJ there is a real need for some of the older TT products like the manual tuner, watt meters, etc. But it takes MONEY to do this folks. I have an extensive electronics production and I was building a metal shop before the pandemic hit. I need money for parts and to finish the metal shop. EVERY CENT from the sale of these 100 radios is going to be reinvested into TT to bring products back on the market. YOU can¡¯t do this cost effectively without a metal shop. If anyone loves TEN TEC and just wants to send us a check to help to buy the stuff we need it will accelerate the process. Again I¡¯ve gone as far as I can go for Ten Tec. Keeping things open best I could in Pandem

Fw: [TenTecEagle] keying with bug
I USE VIBROPLEX BUGS ON A OF MY TEN-TEC RADIOS, FYI, 73, LLOYD N2KPC ----- Forwarded Message ----- From: Mike Congleton KD9CK via groups.io <kd9ck@...> To: [email protected] <[email protected]> Sent: Sunday, May 4, 2025 at 08:06:23 AM EDT Subject: Re: [TenTecEagle] keying with bug Hi Gary, I was told by Paul Clinton in 2012 when I got the Eagle, that the reason for the flaky operation while using a bug was due to the way the key jack was designed. It was designed to auto detect the type of plug inserted in the jack - stereo or mono, and set the radio accordingly. He said the auto detection was done using a couple diodes - this caused a voltage drop in an already low voltage keying circuit. He told me he argued with the engineers about tis design, but we can see who won that argument. I got around it by building a single transistor switch to use in the key line from the bug. I was then able to use the key jack, and it worked great. You can also get around it by using the ACC1 jack on the back of the radio using pins 2 and 3. I used this method when I owned an Omni 7 - worked just fine. BTW - I still use the same single transistor switch in the TS-890 here - it doesn't like a bug either. I modified one of my bugs by dampening the U shaped contact spring with a small piece of foam material. In the end and for that reason, I use a KENT paddle on both my Eagle and my Elecraft K3S. Although the IC-7610 was released in 2019, the Eagle was released 10 years earlier in 2009, I guess technology improves with time. 73 Bob, K4TAX -- 73, Lloyd N2KPC TEN-TEC Amateur Radio Net Manager.

WHEN THE POWER GRID FAILS..FYI, 73, LLOYD N2KPC ----- Forwarded Message ----- From: Jay Silber <jay@...> To: "[email protected]" <[email protected]>; "[email protected]" <[email protected]> Sent: Tuesday, April 29, 2025 at 06:09:32 AM EDT Subject: [PhiladelphiaCountyARES] A real emergency and a ham radio success story H I all, As many of you know, I live about half the year in Almeria, Spain. Yesterday, at 12:15 PM, all power was lost, not only here in Almeria, but all of Spain and Portugal, and parts of the southern France. Cell phone service continued for about another hour or so, and I was able to gather some news that it was not a local event, and the whole country was stopped. Then, the cell towers died as well. I have solar panels that I bought some years ago for emergencies that never happened, but now one did. I regularly check the status of the solar batteries the panels charge and discovered that both these batteries were at 100 percent yesterday. The solar panels were ready to be deployed on my deck or rooftop should the batteries need recharging. In the bright southern Spanish sunshine, that¡¯s less than 6 hours. First, I powered one of my laptops because I wanted to continue editing an audio file for a new promotional video about my hotel, Casa Vicki, here in Almeria. I needed to download some software form Adobe, using my phone as a hotspot, but soon after I started cell service disappeared. Then I went up to my shack/office/TV studio on the top floor, and hooked up the 12 volt cigarette lighter connector form one of the batteries to the power supply posts that normally power my radio and my screw driver vertical antenna. I measured the voltage first and found it was an acceptable 13.6 volts. While the power supply remained in the off position, by connecting to the posts in the back, I illuminated the volt meter and ammeter on the front panel. No one in Spain was on the air that I could find on VHF, UHF or HF. There is a local ham radio club, but their repeater is digital and I haven¡¯t been able to access it yet. As the day wore on, it became apparent that this was going to be a very long day and night. At the age of 78, I make it a habit, since I live alone, to send a WhatsApp message to my kids in the US twice a day that says ¡°I¡¯m still here.¡± If they don¡¯t get it, they know to try and reach me, and who else to call if they can¡¯t. The morning message went out, but as 9:30 PM approached, the time I usually send the evening message, it was clear I wouldn¡¯t be able to communicate. I rarely reach the US on HF from my screwdriver vertical and my 100 watt 991A. But I powered everything on, and tuned my antenna to the phone portion of 20 meters and went in search of someone who might let my kids now I was all right. Around 10 PM , I found the DX Net, a US based net that only accepts non US participants. The net controls, in Boston, and Roanoke Rapids North Carolina, had difficulty hearing me at first, but a station in Sardinia (IS0XGO)relayed my call sign and I joined. Propagation improved and by 11 PM I was able to transmit my health and welfare traffic to the North Carolina Net Control, Barry (N4WFU). After the net, at 11:30, he sent the message to my oldest son in Ardmore, PA, reporting that I was still here and operating with solar battery power. At 1:15 AM the lights came back on, and I checked the WhatsApp group with which I communicate with both my sons. They were very grateful for Barry¡¯s message. They had been speculating on what they should do since the couldn¡¯t reach anyone in Spain. I Am very grateful to Barry and the DX Net, and to ham radio in general. Now, what could I have done better. I could have used WinLink if I had powered the computer in the shack. I thought about it, but it was too dark in my shack to start moving AC cables from the computer and the monitors to one of the batteries. I¡¯ll know better next time. (hopefully there isn¡¯t a next time.) But I¡¯m not at all certain that would have worked. The nearest Winlink set
