Fw: PWA-Technet: Re: Fs: Yaesu FTM-300 / SMB-201 Fan

Steve K3FZT, I haven't had any bites from the PWA people even thou Paul was VP maybe 10 yrs ago. Since Paul can't make it to the Warminster hamfest (May 4th), I'm giving him $300 for the radio and the PDN cable set plus the CS-750 radio (DMR HT that we horse traded back and fourth years ago). The 64 dollar question here... is there anyone else out there that wants to scoop up a deal on the FTM-300 radio before the hamfest in May?? My primary interest in Fusion is to get a fixed "internet only" room setup with that extra HRI-200 and an FTM-100 radio. (That and a computer are all I'll need) The FTM-300 radio would be overkill for that setup. It puts out a full 10w and has decent audio. I checked it out with a Bird #611 watt meter/ dummy load. The matching P/S puts out 13.8v. https://www.rigpix.com/heathkit/vf7401.htm It does have a selector switch on the front for tone encode - 3 positions plus off. The builder apparently set the tone selection when building the kit - there are no dip switches inside and I do not have the manual. It currently has unusual tones, but they are working as checked with an HT set on CTCSS receive. (Transmit tones do open squelch on the HT but you hear the low vibration) Fully working but not a radio to be used daily. This belongs in someone's Heathkit collection - Price is $50 Lookup manual for the radio and P/S here; http://www.rtoham.com/products/manuals/ eHam review; https://www.eham.net/reviews/view-product?id=10617 I would like to off-load the Heathkit before the Phil-Mont Auction on January 8th simply because I have various odds and ends left over from the 2024 hamfests - or Junque as my father called it. Phil-Mont will again have a back table marked for donations to the club. (several RF adapters, small transformers, pieces of hookup wire, etc) Several boxes of items will be placed on the donation table. Mark WA3QVU Cell 215-514-0718 Proceeds; Penn Wireless Association has been meeting at the VFW in Levittown 2 plus years. Recently they have received a grant from the VFW for licensing veterans in the area. One hundred percent of the proceeds from this sale will go toward that program.

Mark WA3QVU All over amateur radio social media: the security certificate for the ARRL's web page has expired. de AA6YQ Comment from Jess Hunter (W9ABS) - computer programmer who runs the Winter Heat online contest in January. On the surface it looks like the server is not set up for Secure Socket Layers on the main landing page. In basic layman's terms, not properly set up to handle 'personal' data. An average I.T. person could have this fixed in under an hour. A good I.T. person could have it fixed in minutes. DISCLAIMER: I only did a cursory check of the main landing page. I did not drill down to see if any of the sub-pages (i.e. personal data pages) were set up for SSL. Fw: ARRL website main page has no security - ARRL Store looks OK

The internet security certificate has apparently expired on the home page and several other pages. http://arrl.org/ I've looked at the ARRL Store where you purchase T-shirts, Mugs and of course the Books. The certificate for the store page does have a current certificate that was purchased on Thursday a week ago and remains current until December 23rd, 2025. https://home.arrl.org/action/Shop/Store That's very important to know since Cyber Monday is tomorrow and I'm sure will see our inbox jammed with all kinds of online deals. Fw: Off Topic: Model Railroad and Trolley Open House in November
Sent from AOL on Android ----- Forwarded Message ----- From: "Mark Hinkel" <mrhinkel@...> To: "F&N - Mark Hinkel" <mrhinkel@...> Cc: Sent: Fri, Nov 15, 2024 at 6:34 AM Subject: Off Topic: Model Railroad and Trolley Open House in November I know quite a few ham radio operators are interested in model railroads or are model railroaders themselves. If you haven't seen the list for open houses please take a look - there may be a layout in your area to visit during the month of November and December 1st. https://www.modelrailroadopenhouse.com/ The East Penn Traction Club (Philadelphia area model trolley group) will have their HO and O-scale modules at the American Helicopter Museum in West Chester over the Thanksgiving weekend - Friday - Saturday November 29th and 30th with tear-down Sunday afternoon December 1st. Details are here; https://eastpenn.org/meetings.html East Penn president Mike Junod will host an open house for his Mayfair Electric traction O-scale layout in his basement located in Southampton, Pa. Time is 12 noon to 4pm this Saturday and Sunday Nov 16th and 17th. The website has a webcam so if you can't make it in-person you'll be able to watch live on video. The address is 207 Windsor Ave, Southampton, Pa 18966 https://www.trolleyman.net/index.html Incidentally, Mike retired from NADC in Ivyland (Naval Air Development Canter) but not before the Navy moved to Pax Maryland. He and a couple of co-workers rented an apartment down there and drove back and forth on the weekend. Mike holds an expired Novice ticket. The photo below is Mike displaying under water sound equipment at the Fuge for the 50th Anniversary of the Moon Landing this past July. Mark WA3QVU >> Cut and past from the Traction Model Railroading FB page << https://www.facebook.com/groups/473840162661220 My Mayfair Electric O scale traction layout will be open for visitors this weekend, November 16, 17 from noon to 4pm.
