Crater Lake Rim Runs 2024 CANCELLED
The event this year has been cancelled!
?
Due to the bad air quality (200 at park currently with worse projection for tomorrow), for the safety of all, it's decided that cancellation of the Rim Run would be for the best.
?
Thank you all who has volunteered to help out in this event.
?
Below is a letter sent by the event race directors to registered runners.??
?
2024 Crater Lake Rim Run Cancellation Notice. ? Rim Run Participants, ? It is with sadness that we feel that we must cancel the 2024 Crater Lake Rim Run.? The air quality in all of Southern Oregon has taken a sudden turn for the worse and projections for this weekend do not look favorable.? AQI numbers are in the unhealthy to very unhealthy category in all of Southern Oregon, including Crater Lake.?
? Much thought and discussion has happened with directors and medical consultation these last six hours about the safety of not only participants, but also the hundreds of volunteers and spectators.? The whole goal of the event is to promote health and fitness of all, and it would be imprudent to expose people to? poor air quality. ? This is especially difficult and with heavy heart to cancel this year¡¯s Rim Run, with the passing of the race founder Bob Freirich this past spring.? He loved this race and we always want to honor him through it with dignity and respect. ? We would ask (plead may be a better word) that you defer your registration to 2025.? If you choose to do so, we will send you the 2024 Rim Run shirt.? However, we understand that since the Run will not be held, a refund is an option as it is not honest to accept your money without providing the Crater Lake Rim Run Experience.? If you choose for a refund, please let me know.? ? We apologize for the suddenness of this email.? We know many have or would have traveled from near and far for this experience.? ? Sincerely ? Rob and Ken Coffman Race Directors ?

Re: Rim Run Repeater Test
Hello Mike! One thing you might try is to change your bandwidth to 25 instead of 12.5. In theory the only real effect using a narrowband carrier on a wideband system is your audio will sound low and distant, but that old Kenwood repeater might be so tight that it's ignoring you completely. Give it a try! 73, Erik KD6RRR On Wed, Jul 31, 2024 at 9:15?PM Mike Pearson via <Omishlord=[email protected]> wrote:

Club Trailer Repeater Repaired
All, ?? The KBARA trailer repeater has been repaired. We replaced the duplexer with a set that has "better rejection" and repaired an intermittent antenna connection.? Jim will be leaving the repeater up and running for all to practice accessing and using. The info is: 147.320 with positive offset and a tone of 118.8 The repeater is located on Wiard St. near Wiard Park (for your range and terrain estimations).. I believe the? repeater is set to beacon every 10 minutes, so listen for that if you are not making contacts. Thanx, ?? Jeff KJ7IRV, ~73

Club Trailer Repeater Maintenance
Good Evening All, ??? The KBARA Trailer Repeater is currently being tested and upgraded.?? Jim reports that the Transceiver is functioning properly, and so suspects either the duplexer, cables, or antenna.? He tuned up another duplexer and we will be replacing it tomorrow morning. We will be sweep the cables and antenna as well as "mechanically disturb" them so see if we are dealing with intermittent issues. We will replace whatever is necessary or prudent. ?? There will be a test Net immediately following the weekly KBARA Net next Wednesday.?? We will send out messages to insure club members have the correct frequencies, offset, and tone to prove their radio setup and their ability to communicate through the Club repeater. ?? I am still interested in accumulating and aggregating your favorite (useful ;-) internet links to sites,, Youtube channels, or Phone apps? that other club members may find valuable or entertaining.
