I have lost much of my sight and find it a bit difficult to read the switch list and manifest reports printed out by JMRI. i recently purchased a new printer to address the problem but still the print is somewhat light even after changing all the print setting on the printer. If I capture a screen shot of a portion of a switch list using the screen capture program "JING" the captured switch list printing is black and easy to read. Is there a modification to Panel Pro for printing darker print? Can one print through another program such as Excel to try addressing this issue.

Screen capturing a window gives you the 'graphic' image which is going to
have the actual fonts and colors displayed on the screen. In many cases the text is not a deep black but a lighter grey or some other color. The printer is reproducing the 'lightness' of the actual font. A couple of things you can try. First, bring up the printer properties in the print dialog and make sure it is printing in black and white. Not color or gray-scale. Secondly you might be able to modify the text color and font style in the program itself to give you a true black text in the display. Third, maybe you can highlight, cut and paste the listing from the program window into Notepad so you can get actual text which you can resize and bolden before you print. Mike. Your idea regarding Notepad got me to experiment and come up with a workaround that works. Since JMRI uses Notepad I changed the font in Notepad to "Cooper Black". Now when the switchlist or manifest list is shown I highlight it, select copy, go to Microsoft word and paste it there. Now when I print the switch list or manifest it prints the dark readable copy of the switchlist as shown on the JMRI screen

I seem to have come in the middle of this discussion but ... I have created
several, what I call "Manifest Creators". I believe that one or more of this would do what you are looking for. I continue in my efforts to create the documentation so that they are "stand alone" Apps. At the moment, I still need to do some explanation when someone new begins using them. The early versions have been around for several years. JMRI includes a Link (the RUN command) that will automatically "run" the app without leaving JMRI. These are all written in VBA within Excel using the CSV files that Dan B provides. If you or anyone is interested feel free to get with me. Some of these Apps are available in the JMRI User Group Files section under Operations and are generally know as "Manifest Creator". I have also begun the creation of a website so that the files can be removed from with the Files section so as to free up space within that area of the User Group . The issue is that the website, much like the documentation, is not complete. I am rather sporadic in my attempts to update both the documentation and the Website. I would be happy to send samples (and the Apps) of any or all of my creators to anyone interested. However, you must be running MS Excel version 2000. You can find additional information at . *any* version of MS Excel/Windows beginning with Excel 2000. So you can use Excel 2000 or NEWER. Also there are currently nine (9) different versions / formats to select from. This includes car images included with the manifest, two column manifests, Freight Bills and Empty Car Cards, and what some call more prototypical Train Lists, Switch Lists, and Train Orders. for each Manifest version, if you follow that. One is for Excel 2007 or older (back to 2000) and the other is for Excel 2020 and newer (up through Excel 365). In MicroSoft's infinite wisdom, that made some significant changes to VBA or internal parameters that made the original code non-functional in the later versions. Thanks, Dan. I've maintained VBA code across various versions of Excel before, so I know your pain. I'm not at the point of using JMRI and these extensions yet, but it's good to know it's a living app, not a dead-end effort.
