Occupancy detection
#digikeijs
I am developing the JMRI panel for a club sized layout.? We are using the DijiKeijs DCC system, but I don’t think which DCC system we are using has anything to do with my problem.? This layout includes 8 city areas each with its own DijiKeijs DR5088 detection module. ? My problem is that only about half of the city areas show occupancy correctly on the panel.? The other half of the layout will briefly flash an indication of occupancy and then revert to non-occupied status? This same thing happens whether I am running an engine into a block or if I try to change the aspect of the sensor by clicking on it on the panel. ? Any suggestions on how to correct this? |
I can only think of detector configuration. Momentary action?
Perhaps set up a separate set of sensors to interface a detector, separated from any other JMRI logic or control. Solved? I can't off hand think of anything else that would reset the detector or its reading sensors. -- Ken NYNH&H, Old Colony Division, Cape Cod Branch (1949-1959) [DB150][PR3][QuadLN_S][JMRI 5.3.5] |
You might want to have a look in the layout file (xml). In it, search for the name of a known good sensor, and of one that does not do what you want. Look at the differences and see if anything rings a bell. Wouter On Tue, 25 Apr 2023, 21:23 , <johntrains@...> wrote:

Recheck your channel addresses. You might have a conflict with other devices.
Loconet? Your addresses may have a conflict within JMRI. These conflicts could cause "momentary" appearance. Can you verify on the module detection locally using DijiKeijs software? If using Loconet, did you try "slow mode" communication? Check Loconet monitor for communication problems. If using Railcom, check MULTI-sense settings. I don't have DijiKeijs, so I can't play games with it. Unfortunately, there is no DijiKeijs group I can find that you can consult. -- Ken NYNH&H, Old Colony Division, Cape Cod Branch (1949-1959) [DB150][PR3][QuadLN_S][JMRI 5.3.5] |
There is a Digikeijs group on groups.io ( it now also includes YaMoRC -- a new company started by the original programmer for Digikeijs).
Note that the DR5088RC has a rated sensitivity of 10 to 15 mA. That's quite a bit higher than many other occupancy detectors (BDL168 is rated at about 1.2 mA). It detects engines fine, but it doesn't do well if you use larger resistors on cars. I actually use the DR5088RC as a RailCom reader and add RR-CirKits WatchMan or BOD-8's for the dectection on the same blocks. You can set the Sensor address and the Reporter address for each of the 16 blocks, plus one each for the common block. The documentation and Windows application can be found at? Scott Walton |
