I recently installed JMRI on my laptop running Windows 7.? I was able to upload the roster from my main computer to the laptop no problem.? But I am unable to do any programming from the laptop, I keep getting error coode 306.
I am using a USB to RS232 cable using USB Com port 9 running at 9600 baud.? Also, I notice that when I attempt to program on the main the system automatically switches back to program track.
Any help would be gratefully appreciated.

What NCE system are you using? Is it an NCE Power Pro (uses a third-party USB-Serial Cable) or is it a Power Cab or SB5 system (uses the NCE USB board).

If a Power Pro, please conduct the loopback test described here and report the results:

Also tell us what all your JMRI connection settings are, and include a copy of your system log. Go to the Help->System Console menu item, click Copy to Clipboard and paste that into message for us all to see.

Alternatively, go to the Help->Locations menu item, click on Open Log Files Location and upload the session.log file to a folder with your name that you create in the Files area of this list and in the Problems Being Worked On folder already there.

Good to hear you are working again.

However JMRI version 4.10 is very old and and has significant issues that are likely to bite you now or in the future. Version 4.16 is the latest production version, but the current test version (V4.17.3) is recommended as a significant problem has been discovered in V4.16 and this is fixed in V4.17.3.
