Locked JMRI wont save anything.

?I downloaded JMRI on my computer using Windows10.? I had a few locations and Trains working.? I was very excited. Then it got hung up and would not run any Trains or keep any new information i added.? We ended up deleting the program. I have re downloaded the program. it will not add operations to the main page. any information i add is lost if i close the program. Im not a computer guy so im very frustrated.

Tom,

Please look at the system console for error messages.? You can paste them in your reply.? Look under "Help" in the main menu bar for the system console.

Dan

Did you uninstall JMRI or simply delete the directory?

David

I just added what the system console said.
I am not sure on the delete question, my Great nephew tried to help me while on spring break.
He went back to school work.

Not sure how you've configured your computer, but the program can't find your profile:

2020-04-07 11:20:13,147 profile.ProfileManager? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ERROR - There was an error reading directory E:\Tom Trains\2020_03_24_00\profile. [main]
2020-04-07 11:20:13,152 profile.ProfileManager? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ERROR - There was an error reading directory E:\Tom Trains\2020_03_24_00\profile. [main]

Try creating a new one.

Dan

HOw do i do this? the program worked great at first?

Tom

Did you use a memory stick for your E drive?

To create a new profile, under the main menu, Edit, select Preferences...

And in the Preferences window, select Config Profiles, then "New", and enter a name for your profile. Press "OK", and then "Save".

That will restart the program will a new profile.? From there you can try again. If you have a backup of your operations, you can restore.

Dan

Dan I appear to be back up and running, thanks. Now i have to either rebuild or? use the back up stick that was made for me. not sure its any good.
