Hello how is everyone doing tonight?? I am having a problem with my NCE USB and JMRI Decoder Pro not communicating? I Have a USB Interface Version 7.x.x. Power Cab Version 1.65b? I have all jumpers on and the com port is set correctly and so is the baud rate?
I also have a fresh install of jmri and the CP210x drivers for Windows 10 (My Operating System)
Any help would be greatly appreciated thank you in advance! |

Thanks for the system description and log. The first troubleshooting step is to go to Advanced Connection Settings and change the baud rate from 19200 to 9600. Do not change any board jumpers or other JMRI/Windows settings. After making that single change post us another log. The step above (even though it isn't actually the correct setting) will help rule out one possibility we have seen (bad jumper connections). If that doesn't make any change to the log, revert the baud rate setting to 19200 and: - Reinstall the latest Win10 SiLabs drivers from <> . We've seen Windows updates corrupt the drivers. - Double-check the COM port in Windows Device Manager while plugging/unplugging the USB cable.? - Make sure the NCE USB isn't locked up (Cab Bus LED stuck on). Unplug and replug Cab Bus cable to clear. - Make sure the cab cable and sockets look OK. The NCE USB needs 12V power via pins 2 and 5 of that cable in order to be able to send a version response to JMRI. Dave in Australia |

Looks the same to me.?
The com port shows up when unplugging and re plugging and is still Port #4. The Hub is #2 does that matter?
The cab bus light is not stuck on. Both of the lights on the NCE USB Flash when plugging in the coiled cord ,although the usb light does not flash when plugging in the usb cable.
I think we have found the problem upon uninstalling the driver and? reinstalling it has give me a error. Will keep you updated! |

Alright so i think i? have successfully re installed the driver. The comport now shows up as 10 and i have changed to port 10 in decoder pro preferences.?? Still doesn't work lol! Does not work on 19200 baud either.?
When i select the device in device manager it is named (COM10) but in location says?Port_#0004.Hub_#0002.

I did not see any LED activity with the first test. The power cab working great.? With the second test i noticed a quick flash when i plugged in the cable from the PowerCab. But no more activity. ¿ªÔÆÌåÓýLuke, Please update from 4.16 to 4.17.4. There were some baud rate setting issues with 4.16 and I want to rule that out. I replicated your tests: - Every time I plug the cab bus cable in, I saw a brief flash. That's expected and indicates 12V power is reaching the NCE USB. - When I have the correct settings (19200 and all jumpers on), I don't see any activity (this is expected unless you are busy doing things like reading CVs or doing a Show Cabs). If there's no LED activity with the mismatched baud rate (9600 and all jumpers on) condition, that tends to point to a USB driver or port issue. BTW: The NCE USB consists of two separate optically-isolated parts, communicating via an onboard serial link: - The USB side, powered by 5V from the computer. It's baud rate is set by JMRI via the SiLabs driver. - The microprocessor and Cab Bus side, powered by 12V from the cab bus. It's baud rate is set by the microprocessor reading the jumpers at power-up. - Obviously it's essential that the two baud rate settings match. From your reported lack of activity from the USB side LED under deliberate mismatch conditions (9600 and all jumpers on) - please check that again, I'm starting to suspect that you've got Windows Driver or port problems: - Are you sure the COM port you are using is the one that appears/disappears as you plug/unplug?the NCE USB? ? - Did you actually uninstall the current SiLabs drivers (plug the NCE USB in and select the new COM port that appears) then select Remove. - Did you get the latest SiLabs Windows 10 drivers from <>, unpack and run the installer twice, once with?the NCE USB?unplugged and a second time with it plugged in. - Did a new COM port appear/disappear and made sure there are no error or exclamation mark symbols? The driver says it is working properly and i am 100% sure it the correct Com Port. I ran the installer twice and my computer has not updated. I am downloading the new version will test it and post the logs soon.? Thanks again for you help and patience.? |
