Hardware

Does anyone know of any hardware that is currently for sale that could be used to control room lighting?
All the supported hardware seems to be discontinued on Powerline website. Thank you, Bob

I use my Alexa to control layout power, layout lighting, and aux power units all on separate commands

I don't know if you simply want on-off or mood lighting. but I do day-night sessions.
I control the overheads with a cheap B&D remote relay and wireless controller.
My layout has a light sensor that's on a detector input.
JMRI takes care of layout light and animation features based upon that sensor.

Doing just on and off room lights isn¡¯t too hard. But I¡¯ve seen a number of different attempts. Right now the best choice isn¡¯t cheap but works pretty well. Look up the DMX light controllers that are used by the theater and shows. They use a ton of those for rock concerts. Only problem I¡¯ve had is the cheap USB interfaces. You find a number of them with identical descriptions but only some of them have the right drivers that JMRI can connect with. Right now, only ones that show up as a serial communication port are ones that JMRI will work with.
