I suspected that the login password not having access to the internet for Windows to confirm the account has something to do with this.

That is not something that I have ever seen on any windows computer.? I seem that it might be your most important clue as to where to search for the root cause of the problem.? A quick search for windows creates a temp user profile yielded too many hits to resolve here, but the first one led to:
