Yes and now things have changed once more to other variations.

I am going to try a clean slate at this point. I suspect with me trying and validating fields are pointing to the correct folders in the Menu and desktop and launcher and invoking directly within the folder JMRI. things are crossed.? I will take this evening to re-install clean JMRI and go over my steps.

- ?Delete all JMRI folders, whether hidden or in the Downloads folder
- Take the downloaded JMRI zip file and unload to /Downloads/JMRI
- Copy this folder to the Home directory as JMRI and start over
- I'll follow the directions explicitly to assure I don't have variations elsewhere.
Any tips after this before is started ?
