The only downside is that your Pi needs to be powered on
Alternatively (and this is probably not for average users), you could set up your JMRI user files on a shared drive somewhere (DropBox or similar). Then you work on your PC in simulator mode and your Pi will see everything you do. Just don¡¯t start both

You may find it just as easy to use a remote desktop connection to the Pi4 and do the JMRI configuration once. I have a Pi4 connected to a Digitrax controller. The Pi4 has VNC server enabled and I use RealVNC viewer to access the Pi4. I do not use Steve's
Pi image but loaded the RPI OS, added Java then the JMRI. If you use Steve's image you should connect the Pi4 to your home WIFI. I believe Steve has instructions on how to do this. I can connect to my Pi4 with a Mac, Windows PC's, Android tablet and Linux
(even another Pi4).
