I'm still tring to figure out how to use and store Reporter settings.? I don't have Transponding detection on all Blocks of my layout, but I read somewhere that it isn't required to make this work.? Manual entries in the Value Column of the Blocks Table ususally pass from one block to the next just fine, but not always.

I edited my panel and added some Block Contents icons.

When train with loco number 21 and equipped with Transponding entered the Block, the Block Value Column showed LD21.

The Block Contents Icon then showed LD21

The train was moved to the next Block and the Block Contents Icon for that Block also showed LD21

Thinking all was well, I quit JMRI and Stored the panels and tables.

Then I reopened JMRI and was back to the parse error that started this whole thread.?

I made the Reporter selection using what was available in the drop-down list in the Reporter Column of the Blocks Table.? I didn't edit anything.? I don't understand what went wrong or how to prevent it.

I find I can manually enter a Value for a train on the Block Table and it will carry from Block to Block, except I have one Block that refuses to accept the Value.? Once I cross that Block boundary, the Value is lost and going back does not recover it (as I would expect it wouldn't.? Can't pass an empty value back to the old Block.)

I can't find anything I did differently in setting up that Block.? All the Connections seem to point to the next Turnout or the next Connection Point exactly as the adjoining Blocks do.? Even though the Value is lost, the Occupancy Detection is displayed as trains traverse that Block.? It just won't show the Value passed from the previous Block.? I can manually enter a Value for that Block and it will display on the Block Contents Icon, but it won't pass to either adjoining Block as the train moves.

Maybe that is TMI for now. ?? I'll try to experiment or answer questions if you need more information.
