"preference:" and "profile:" are the same unless ?"User Files Location" has been changed in "Preferences -> File Locations".?

Normally these point to the same directory.? I'd like you to create a new profile, adjust to save to your D drive using the JMRI GUI.? Load the operations demo files, and see if changes get properly saved. If so, copy your operations files to the new profile and go from there.
