So long as there are sufficient USB sockets available, a Windows computer will allocate COM Port numbers to each device which behaves as a serial device when it is plugged in.

You may only need one USB port on the computer. I am using a Win7 computer with only one USB port. I have a 4-port USB hub attached with 3 devices plugged into the hub (NCE interface, Sprog IIv3, LokProgrammer). Windows assigns a separate COM number to each.
