?Yes I am on win 11 pro. Using the computers internal disk only.

I click (I use ?a pad, not a mouse so I may actual 2 finger click ) on the file in its folder, then click on additional options, then click on copy.
Then click on desktop, click more options, click paste

Are you saying that sequence moves the file instead of copying it?

I assume you're on Windows

If so, the DEFAULT operation when "copying" files on the SAME DISK, is to MOVE them (if you're dragging with the mouse)

If you want to make a COPY of the file when you drag it somewhere else, you need to hold down the CTRL key

I have a profile where the default file folder is the profile folder and the layout panel is loaded from a different folder.

I some how lost the original file when I copied it to the desktop. ?Some how it moved it instead of coping it.

when I use that profile ?with the train info file on the desktop and open dispatcher and create a train and click on load train I got all the train transits.
?
I moved the train file from the desktop and put a copy in jmri folder, the profile folder and the layout panel folder. ?I try to load a train transit and nothing happens.
?
I put a copy back on the desktop and still I can¡¯t access it from dispatcher
?
where does the file belong and why can¡¯t it be found even though a copy is everywhere
