Hi All,
Background:
I'm a recent UK retiree returning to modelling after a real life away from modelling.
I'm building a fairly large 4.5x3.9m OO layout from scratch but for my father's old stock.
System:
I'd rather not cross the bridge of converting, say, 30 locos & power cars to DCC. Which was no more than a pipe dream when most of the stock was made so it's DC I think.
Insulfrog points.
5 cabs, maybe 40 blocks. A block could be as simple as one cab on/off or have up to four cabs dependent on location and route.
MERG CBUS, esp. for servo point control and relay cab selection.
Maybe a Raspberry PI with touchscreen monitor.
Maybe entry/exit routing.
Not anticipating train detection/occupation.
JMRI:
I'd like to use JMRI especially to avoid having to build/wire a mimic panel to achieve cab control and with that number of blocks.
I've done a fair bit of superficial skimming through JMRI's capabilities which mostly seem to be tailored to DCC or DC+ (i.e. electronic throttles) for train running.
I can see route processes to cover points and signals.
Are there further means within JMRI to achieve DC cab selection as part of the route setting process?
And if so how are point switching events and cab selection synchronised?
