This is be basic break down......
?? NCE USB Interface combination
- Jumper 2 - OFF 3 - OFF 4 - OFF? Reports EEPROM 7.3.0 . Baud Rate 9600?? Power Cab of 1.28 and 1.65 will work. JMRI set to 9600
- Jumper 2 - OFF 3 - ON?? 4 - ON??? Reports EEPROM 7.3.3.? Baud Rate 19200? Power Cab of 1.65? will work. JMRI set to 19200
- Jumper 2 - On ? 3 - ON ? 4 - ON ?? Reports EEPROM 7.3.7.?? Baud Rate 19200 Power Cab of 1.65b will work. JMRI set to 19200
The key is starting the line of communication is the timing of the coiled cable connection to the NCE USB Interface. When that connection is made
the preamble is sent out. Once the handshake is established the port is considered good and open for communication. This is the missing piece
that's been alluding us for years. Even if the combination was right if the handshake wasn't timed it would fail. Creating the wild goose chase. ?
I have 3 Power Cabs and fortunately two were 1.65b and one was at 1.65. I was able to verify each combination and all worked and failed per the combination
above.
